Overview
The Perko 0254 is a pair of vertical mount side lights for power-driven vessels under 20 meters, or 65.6 ft., in length. Each set includes port and starboard navigation lights with red and green lenses, 12-volt bulbs, and 2-mile USCG 2nm certification for the side-light visibility range.
This Fig. 0254 series uses a vertical mounting footprint for bow or forward side installations where separate red and green side lights are preferred over a single bi-color fixture. Each light draws 8 watts and .70 amps at 12 volts, with gold plated contacts and a housing size of 3-1/2 in. long, 2-1/4 in. wide, 1-3/8 in. projection, and 1-5/8 in. height.
Key features
- Pair of separate port and starboard side lights with red and green lenses for required vessel navigation lighting.
- 2-mile USCG 2nm certified visibility rating for power-driven boats under 20 meters.
- 12-volt incandescent bulbs are included, with each light rated at 8 watts and .70 amps.
- Vertical mount layout works for installations where lights sit on a vertical or near-vertical bow, cabin side, or console surface.
- Gold plated contacts help support dependable electrical contact in damp marine locations.
- Uses #8 mounting screws, with a footprint of 3-1/2 in. length by 2-1/4 in. width.
- Available in chrome plated bronze, black polymer, or white polymer finishes to match different deck hardware and hull trim.
Variants
This Perko side-light set is offered in three finish configurations. The finish and housing material change between variants, while the red and green lenses, 12-volt bulb format, dimensions, #8 screw mounting, and 2-mile certification stay the same across the Fig. 0254 range.
The chrome version uses a chrome plated bronze cover over a black polymer base, while the black and white versions use polymer housings throughout.
- 0254M00DP1: Chrome finish with a chrome plated bronze cover and black polymer base. This version gives the light a polished deck hardware appearance while keeping the same mounting footprint and navigation-light function.
- 0254B00DP1: Black finish with an all-black polymer housing. The darker housing suits installations near black trim, windshields, rails, or consoles where a low-contrast look is preferred.
- 0254W00DP1: White finish with an all-white polymer housing. The white housing fits cleanly alongside white gelcoat, cabin sides, and console surfaces.
Installation and fit
These lights are meant for vertical mount side-light positions, so the mounting surface and lens orientation should be checked before drilling. On a typical installation, the red lens belongs on the port side and the green lens on the starboard side, with each light mounted where the beam is not blocked by railings, pulpits, canvas, or deck hardware.
The 3-1/2 in. by 2-1/4 in. footprint and 1-3/8 in. projection make this set useful for replacement work where an older vertical side-light pair is being updated. Existing hole spacing, wire routing, and the condition of the mounting surface should still be checked on the boat before installation.
Electrical and system notes
The included bulbs are for 12-volt DC systems. For 24-volt refit work on boats built prior to 11/1/03, this Fig. 0254 light can be used with 0072DP8CLR bulbs to maintain A.B.Y.C. A-16 certification; 24-volt new-construction applications need separate confirmation before installation.
This is a straightforward incandescent navigation-light set for owners replacing worn side lights or fitting a small powerboat that needs separate red and green lights rather than a bi-color bow light. It is a practical match for runabouts, center consoles, cuddy cabins, and other power-driven vessels within the under-20-meter rating.
What's included
- One port side light with red lens
- One starboard side light with green lens
- 12-volt bulbs
