Overview
The Raymarine SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk NG Convertor is a network interface for bringing compatible legacy SeaTalk 1 equipment onto a Raymarine SeaTalk NG system. It sits between older SeaTalk 1 instruments or sensors and the newer SeaTalk NG backbone, helping refit older helm electronics without replacing every working display or sensor at once.
This product range covers two package types: an adaptor kit for a new or expanded installation, and a converter-only option for service replacement or systems that already have the required SeaTalk NG cabling. The kit package includes 1 m (3.3-foot) SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk NG and SeaTalk NG spur cables, along with the terminators, blanking plugs, and power cable needed for basic SeaTalk NG backbone connectivity.
Key features
- Connects compatible SeaTalk 1 devices to a Raymarine SeaTalk NG network.
- Works with supported legacy Raymarine equipment such as ST40 and ST60+ instruments, Raystar 125 GPS sensors, and LifeTag Wireless Man Overboard systems.
- Inline converter format fits into the SeaTalk NG instrument network without adding a separate display or control head.
- Adaptor kit package includes the main converter, SeaTalk NG terminators, blanking plugs, power cable, and 1 m network cables for basic backbone setup.
- Converter-only package keeps a replacement focused when the correct SeaTalk NG cabling is already installed on the boat.
Variants
This product is offered in two package configurations for different installation needs.
Both variants are centered on the same SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk NG conversion function. The difference is the package content, which matters most when comparing a fresh installation against a replacement on an existing SeaTalk NG network.
- E22158, Package Type: Adaptor Kit. Includes the SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk NG converter, two SeaTalk NG terminators, two SeaTalk NG blanking plugs, a 1 m (3.3-foot) SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk NG converter cable, a SeaTalk NG power cable, and a 1 m (3.3-foot) SeaTalk NG spur cable. This package supports the basic network connections needed around the converter.
- R52131, Package Type: Converter Only. Supplies the converter body without cables. This package fits service work or refits where the existing SeaTalk NG wiring and backbone components are already in place.
Installation and setup
Mount the converter where the SeaTalk NG backbone and the legacy SeaTalk 1 cable run can meet without tight bends or strain on the connectors. Common locations include the helm electronics space, nav station, or an instrument wiring area that stays protected from direct spray and foot traffic.
Before installation, confirm which SeaTalk 1 devices are being retained and how the SeaTalk NG backbone is powered and terminated. A SeaTalk NG network needs proper backbone layout, so the adaptor kit is the more complete package when those basic network parts are not already fitted.
Compatibility and fit
This converter is for Raymarine SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk NG integration. It is a practical match for boats keeping compatible older Raymarine instruments during a helm electronics upgrade, especially where the newer display, pilot, or instrument network is already based on SeaTalk NG.
It should not be treated as a universal marine data gateway for unrelated network types. For a clean installation, match the package type to the cables and SeaTalk NG backbone parts already on board.
