Overview
The Perko 1198 Hasp is a chrome plated zinc alloy hasp for securing small hatches, lockers, cabinets, and equipment compartments on boats. It is part of Perko's cabinet hardware range and is sized for compact marine installations where the latch needs to sit neatly on a flat surface without taking up much room.
The hasp has a 1 in. overall width, 1/4 in. padlock clearance, and uses #6 mounting screws. The closed length varies by configuration, with 2 in., 3 in., and 3-3/4 in. options available for matching the hardware to the door, lid, or locker face.
Key features
- Chrome plated zinc alloy construction with a plated finish suited to visible cabin, locker, and deck box hardware.
- 1 in. overall width helps with fit checks on narrow hatch frames, cabinet doors, and small compartment lids.
- 1/4 in. padlock clearance supports use with a small padlock where a lockable closure is needed.
- Uses #6 mounting screws, so fastener planning is straightforward during replacement or new installation.
- Available in three closed lengths to match different mounting spaces and latch reach requirements.
- Dealer package format includes 10 cards with 1 hasp per card for shop stock, refit work, or multiple onboard hardware replacements.
Variants
This Perko hasp is offered in multiple closed lengths while keeping the same overall width, padlock clearance, screw size, material, and plated finish across the range.
The length is the main fit point. A shorter hasp suits tighter cabinet or locker layouts, while the longer versions give more reach across wider gaps or larger lid and door faces.
- 1198DP1CHR: Length closed 2 in. This compact size is useful where the mounting area is limited, such as small cabinet doors, access panels, or narrow locker fronts.
- 1198DP2CHR: Length closed 3 in. This middle size gives more reach while still keeping the hardware low profile for common marine storage and cabin applications.
- 1198DP3CHR: Length closed 3-3/4 in. This longer version works for larger lids or doors where the keeper and hinge side need more spacing to align properly.
Installation and fit
Before drilling, check the closed length against the available mounting space and confirm that the hasp can swing freely without hitting trim, hinges, gasket edges, or raised hatch lips. The keeper and hasp should meet squarely so the padlock hole lines up without forcing the hardware out of position.
Use fasteners appropriate for the mounting surface and the surrounding environment. On fiberglass, wood, or composite panels, pre-drilling helps reduce splitting, gelcoat chipping, and uneven screw pull.
Use cases on board
This hasp is a practical match for boat owners, riggers, and service yards replacing worn cabinet hardware or adding a simple lockable closure to lockers, storage lids, small hatches, and utility compartments. The plated finish makes it a clean choice for visible areas where the hardware needs to look finished rather than purely industrial.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
