Overview
The TACO Marine GS-390 is a Grand Slam 390 top-mount outrigger base for 1-1/2 in outriggers, made for larger center console boats that need strong control from beneath the T-top. It is suited to boats in the 25 ft to 40 ft range and uses a reinforced gusset and thicker arm to manage the torque that comes with longer outrigger poles.
This mount lets the crew raise the outrigger with a crank handle and rotate it horizontally from under the top, which matters when lines need to be adjusted while the boat is moving or the sea state is less than calm. The mount has a 45 degree upward lift angle, secure pin-locking technology, and a locking head that helps keep the outrigger in the selected fishing position.
Construction combines cast Type 316L stainless steel with machined aluminum, a practical mix for offshore use where salt, spray, and vibration are part of every trip. The GS-390 is supplied as a pair, with a listed pair weight of 35 lb, and it works with T-top installations up to 2-5/8 in thick.
Key features
- Fits 1-1/2 in outrigger poles for sport fishing and offshore trolling setups.
- Made for larger center console boats from 25 ft to 40 ft where longer poles can place more load on the base.
- Reinforced gusset support and a thicker arm help handle the torque created by longer outrigger poles.
- Elevation crank handle raises the outrigger from under the T-top, with a 45 degree upward lift angle.
- Horizontal rotation is controlled from under the T-top, so adjustments can be made from the deck.
- Offset handle gives the operator more hand clearance around hardtop and T-top structures.
- Secure pin-locking technology and a locking head help hold the outrigger in the selected position.
- Cast Type 316L stainless steel and machined aluminum construction suits regular saltwater use.
- Pairs with TACO Deluxe Aluminum and Carbon Fiber Tele-Outriggers.
- Top-mount base uses a 4 in x 6 in footprint with a 3 in x 5 in on-center bolt pattern.
Installation and fit
The GS-390 mounts through the T-top using a 4 in x 6 in base pattern, with 5/16 in mounting holes and a 3 in x 5 in on-center bolt layout. Before drilling, measure the top thickness and confirm that the mounting area has enough structure to support the load from the outriggers during trolling, turns, and rough-water running.
A backing plate is commonly used on outrigger installations to spread the load across the top structure. On boats that fish offshore or pull heavier spreads, this is an important part of keeping the mount secure and reducing stress around the fasteners.
Outrigger compatibility
This mount is for 1-1/2 in outriggers and is a good match for TACO Deluxe Aluminum or Carbon Fiber Tele-Outriggers. The pin-locking connection is useful for crews that want a firm, repeatable setup when deploying, raising, or rotating the poles during trolling.
Use on board
The GS-390 fits boats that need outrigger control from the deck rather than from above the top. That makes it useful on offshore center consoles where the crew may be clearing lines, resetting baits, or adjusting the spread while staying inside the cockpit or helm area.
For anglers running longer poles on faster boats, the stronger arm and gusset give this mount a more serious feel than a light-duty base. It is best suited to sport fishing layouts where outrigger position, hand clearance, and under-top operation all matter.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the mount with fresh water after saltwater trips, especially around the locking head, handle, and moving parts. Check the fasteners and mounting area during routine boat maintenance, and inspect the outrigger connection before offshore runs or after trailering long distances.
