Overview
The TACO Marine COK-0021-2 is a shock cord with glass eye assembly for outrigger halyard rigging, supplied as a pair for replacing or setting up two tension points. It uses a smooth, solid glass ring with a 1-3/4 inch width and marine-grade shock cord to help keep halyard lines under tension while they move through the outrigger system.
This assembly is used where a halyard line needs controlled tension without binding or excessive creep. The glass eye gives the line a smooth contact point, while the elastic cord helps absorb movement from trolling, chop, vibration, and regular outrigger adjustment on fishing boats.
Each piece measures 16 inches overall, with a 1/2 inch height and an approximate weight of 0.33 lb. The stainless steel snap hook gives the assembly a straightforward attachment point for rigging hardware, making it practical for routine outrigger service or a fresh rigging setup.
Key features
- Pair of shock cord assemblies for outrigger halyard tensioning
- 1-3/4 inch smooth, solid glass ring helps halyard line movement and reduces line creep
- Marine-grade shock cord adds elastic tension for changing line loads while trolling or adjusting outriggers
- Stainless steel snap hook gives a secure attachment point for compatible rigging hardware
- 16 inch overall length per piece for common outrigger rigging layouts
- Useful for replacing worn shock cord assemblies or completing a two-sided outrigger setup
Installation and setup
Install the shock cord where the outrigger halyard needs elastic tension and a smooth guide point. The snap hook should be attached to suitable outrigger rigging hardware, with the glass ring positioned so the halyard can pass through cleanly without rubbing against sharp edges or nearby fittings.
Before final use, cycle the outrigger halyard through its normal operating range and confirm that the cord stretches freely, the ring stays aligned with the line path, and the snap hook is fully seated. The assembly should not be installed where it can be pinched, chafed, or left under an abnormal side load.
Use on board
This is a practical service item for offshore and coastal fishing boats that use outriggers for trolling spreads. It suits owners, riggers, and crews who need to restore halyard tension, reduce slack in the rigging, or replace glass-eye shock cords that have become worn from sun, salt, and repeated movement.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the assembly with fresh water after saltwater use, especially around the snap hook and the glass ring contact area. During routine rigging checks, inspect the shock cord for loss of elasticity, cracking, fraying, or chafe, and replace the assembly when the cord no longer holds consistent tension.
What’s included
- Two shock cord assemblies with glass eye
- Stainless steel snap hook on each assembly
