Overview

The Victron Energy Inverter VE.Direct 1200VA 120V is a stand-alone Phoenix inverter for turning a 24V or 48V DC battery bank into 120V AC power on board. The range covers 24V and 48V DC input versions, with either a NEMA 5-15R or NEMA GFCI AC outlet, so the unit can be matched to the vessel battery system and outlet requirement.

At the 1200VA size, this inverter is rated for 1000W continuous output at 25°C, 850W at 40°C, and 2200W peak power. The 120V AC output can operate at 50Hz or 60Hz, and the VE.Direct port supports setup and monitoring through compatible Victron accessories.

It suits boats that need dependable AC power from a house battery bank for chargers, electronics, small tools, and other loads within the inverter rating. The IP21 enclosure and fan assisted cooling make it a fit for protected interior mounting locations such as electrical lockers, cabins, and dry equipment compartments.

Key features
  • Converts 24V or 48V DC battery power, depending on variant, to 120V AC output for onboard AC loads.
  • 1200VA inverter rating with 1000W continuous output at 25°C, 850W at 40°C, and 2200W peak power.
  • VE.Direct port supports configuration and monitoring when paired with the correct VE.Direct cable or Bluetooth Smart dongle.
  • Configurable settings include low battery alarm levels, cut-off and restart levels, output voltage, frequency, and ECO mode behavior.
  • ECO mode reduces standby consumption and uses adjustable stop and start power settings.
  • Remote on/off connection supports control from a helm switch, electrical panel, or equipment locker location.
  • Built-in protection covers output short circuit, overload, high or low battery voltage, high temperature, and excessive DC ripple.
  • IP21 enclosure uses a steel chassis, plastic cover, and screw-terminal battery connection for fixed installations.
  • Available with either NEMA 5-15R or NEMA GFCI outlet options for North American 120V AC systems.
Variants

This product is offered in four configurations. The differences are the DC input voltage and the AC outlet style.

The 24V and 48V versions share the same 1200VA inverter class, 120V AC output, VE.Direct communication, IP21 enclosure rating, remote on/off capability, and 2200W peak rating.

  • PIN242120500: 24V DC input with NEMA 5-15R AC outlet. This version matches a 24V battery bank and uses the standard straight-blade 120V receptacle format common on North American equipment.
  • PIN242120510: 24V DC input with NEMA GFCI AC outlet. This version keeps the 24V DC platform and adds a GFCI receptacle where ground-fault protection at the outlet is required or preferred.
  • PIN482120500: 48V DC input with NEMA 5-15R AC outlet. This version matches a 48V battery bank while keeping the standard 120V NEMA 5-15R outlet format.
  • PIN482120510: 48V DC input with NEMA GFCI AC outlet. This version combines the 48V DC platform with a GFCI receptacle for installations that call for outlet-level ground-fault protection.
Compatibility and fit

The DC input voltage must match the vessel battery bank. A 24V model is for a 24V DC system, while a 48V model is for a 48V DC system. These are not interchangeable.

This 120V AC version is intended for North American style AC loads. The outlet selection changes the receptacle on the inverter, while the core inverter function remains the same across the listed variants.

Installation and setup

Plan the installation as a fixed DC-to-AC power device mounted close to the battery bank, with short DC cable runs, access to the outlet, and room around the case for airflow. The battery side uses screw terminals, and the 24V and 48V 1200VA models accept up to 25mm² or AWG4 battery cable.

The VE.Direct connection is useful when the inverter is installed away from the helm or main panel. With the proper accessory, the system can be monitored and configured without needing to access the unit directly each time settings or status need to be checked.

Marine environment and placement

The IP21 rating means this inverter belongs in a protected dry location rather than an exposed cockpit, wet bilge, or locker that takes spray. It can operate from -40°C to +65°C with fan assisted cooling, with output derating above 40°C, so ventilation still matters in warm machinery spaces and compact electrical lockers.

The steel chassis and plastic cover help the unit suit fixed installations, but it should still be mounted where it is protected from salt spray, dripping water, and loose gear. A clean mounting area also keeps the terminals, cooling path, and outlet easier to inspect during routine service.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
