Overview

The Victron Energy MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-50 120V is a 48V inverter/charger for boats that need 120V AC from a battery bank, with charging from shore power, generator power, or an onboard energy system. It combines a 3000 VA inverter, a 35A battery charger, and a 50A transfer switch in one unit, with a 38 to 66V DC input range for 48V battery installations.

This model is a strong fit for larger DC house banks on cruising boats, workboats, and marine solar systems where AC loads must keep running when shore or generator power drops away. The 120V output runs at 60 Hz, and the inverter can handle 2400 W continuous output at 25 C with 5500 W peak power for short starting loads.

The IP22 steel enclosure is made for protected interior installation, not exposed deck or bilge mounting. Plan on a dry, ventilated electrical locker or equipment space with enough room for cabling, airflow, and service access.

Key features
  • 48V inverter/charger format with 38 to 66V DC input and 120 VAC, 60 Hz output for North American AC systems.
  • 3000 VA inverter output with 2400 W continuous power at 25 C and 5500 W peak power for short load demands.
  • 35A battery charging and a 50A transfer switch support shore power, generator input, and battery-based AC supply from one unit.
  • PowerControl and PowerAssist help manage limited shore or generator input, with optional external AC current sensing up to 100A.
  • Main AC output transfers in less than 20 ms when the AC source is lost, while the second AC output is live only when AC input is available.
  • VE.Bus communication supports parallel, split-phase, and three-phase operation, plus remote monitoring and system integration.
  • IP22 steel enclosure with M8 battery connections, 6 AWG 120 VAC connection terminals, and fan-assisted operation from -40 to +60 C.
Variants

This product is offered in two certification configurations. The core model rating stays centered on the MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-50 120V platform, while the certification selection changes between the listed variants.

Use the certification option to match the requirements of the vessel electrical design, project documentation, and inspection path. Dimensions can differ between the certification versions, so installation space should be checked against the selected variant before mounting.

  • PMP482305100, Certification Standard. This is the standard certification configuration for the MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-50 120V and is commonly used where the UL 1741 listing is not the deciding requirement for the installation.
  • PMP482305102, Certification UL 1741. This configuration carries the UL 1741 certification selection for systems where that listing is part of the project or compliance requirement.
Installation and system fit

For a marine installation, mount the unit on a solid vertical surface where it is protected from spray, condensation, and loose gear. The 19 kg, 42 lb weight makes backing support important, especially on boats where vibration and hull movement are part of normal use.

Battery cabling, AC wiring, overcurrent protection, grounding, ventilation, and clear service access should be planned as part of the complete vessel electrical system. The 50A AC input rating and 6 AWG AC connection size make this a product for properly planned installations rather than a simple plug-in accessory.

Monitoring and control

The VE.Bus port allows the unit to be configured and tied into a broader Victron system. With compatible Victron control hardware, it can be monitored locally or remotely, which is useful on boats where battery state, shore input limits, generator use, and AC load behavior need regular attention.

PowerAssist is especially useful when a marina pedestal or onboard generator has limited available current. The system can reduce charging when other AC loads are present, then use battery power to help cover short periods of higher demand.

Use cases on board

This inverter/charger makes sense for vessels with a 48V house battery bank and regular 120V AC needs such as galley equipment, electronics, outlets, tools, and selected comfort loads. It is also a practical match for marine solar and hybrid power systems where the boat may move between dockside power, generator charging, and battery operation.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
