Overview
The Perko 1187 is a side mount rowlock socket set for small boats, tenders, dinghies, and utility craft that use separate rowlock horns for rowing. Each socket mounts to the side of the boat and gives the rowlock horn a seated bearing point, keeping the oarlock positioned where it can pivot smoothly under load.
This series is made from zinc alloy in either plain or chrome-plated finish, with black polymer bearings. The sockets measure 4 inches long by 1-1/4 inches deep and use #10 screws for installation. They are used with Perko Fig. 1227, 1262, or 1267 rowlock horns and fit 1/2 inch oarlock shanks.
Key features
- Side mount rowlock socket style for mounting on the side of the gunwale or rowing position.
- Zinc alloy construction, with finish options in plain zinc or chrome-plated zinc.
- Black polymer bearings help support the rowlock horn where it pivots in the socket.
- 4 inch length and 1-1/4 inch depth give clear dimensions for replacement matching and new installations.
- Uses #10 screws, making hardware selection straightforward during installation.
- Compatible with Perko Fig. 1227, 1262, and 1267 rowlock horns.
- Accepts rowlock horns with 1/2 inch oarlock shanks.
Variants
This product is offered in two finish configurations. Both versions share the same side mount socket format, dimensions, screw size, polymer bearing style, and compatibility with the listed Perko rowlock horns.
The finish is the main difference between the two variants, so the choice affects the look of the hardware more than the installation layout.
- 1187DP0ZNC: Plain finish. This option has a simple zinc appearance for utility rowing setups, replacements, and installations where matching polished hardware is not a priority.
- 1187DP0CHR: Chrome finish. This option has a brighter plated look for boats where the rowlock socket needs to match other chrome-finished deck or cockpit hardware.
Installation and fit
These sockets are a practical fit when replacing worn side mount sockets or setting up a rowing station on a dinghy, tender, skiff, or small utility boat. Before drilling, match the 4 inch length, 1-1/4 inch depth, #10 screw requirement, and 1/2 inch shank fit to the existing rowlock hardware or the rowlock horns being installed.
Because rowlock sockets take side load while rowing, the mounting surface should be solid enough to hold the screws securely. On thin gunwales or older boats, backing support may be needed so the socket stays tight after repeated use, vibration, and dockside handling.
Use on board
This socket set suits boats that need a simple mechanical rowing setup without electrical connections, network integration, or system compatibility concerns. It is most useful for tenders, small sailing dinghies, fishing skiffs, and backup rowing arrangements where dependable oar placement matters.
