Overview
The Attwood Marine Car-Top Carrier Kit is a roof-top transport kit for moving a canoe, kayak, or small boat by car when a full rack system or trailer is not part of the setup. It uses foam support blocks to cushion the boat against the vehicle roof, plus straps, rope, and S-hooks to help secure the load for the drive to the ramp, marina, lake, or launch site.
This kit is especially useful for paddlers and boat owners who need a simple removable carrier for occasional trips. The canoe version uses four foam blocks that snap onto the boat's gunwale, while the kayak version uses two foam support blocks. Both versions include two poly web straps with adjusting buckles and vinyl-coated clips, along with 20 ft of polypropylene rope and S-hooks for tying down the bow and stern.
Key features
- Rack-free car-top transport setup for paddlesports craft and small boats.
- Foam blocks help separate the boat from the vehicle roof and reduce scratch risk during transport.
- Poly web straps include adjusting buckles so the load can be tightened against the roof.
- Vinyl-coated clips help limit contact marks where the clips meet the vehicle.
- 20 ft of polypropylene rope and S-hooks support bow and stern tie-downs to the vehicle bumpers.
- Removable setup stores easily between trips and does not require a permanent roof rack installation.
Variants
The Attwood Marine Car-Top Carrier Kit is offered in canoe and kayak configurations so the support blocks match the type of craft being carried.
The main difference is the foam block setup. The canoe kit uses four supporting foam blocks for a canoe or small boat, while the kayak kit uses two supporting foam blocks for a kayak. The strap hardware, polypropylene rope, and S-hooks remain consistent across the confirmed configurations.
- 11437-7: For Canoe. This configuration includes four supporting foam blocks that snap onto the canoe gunwale, giving the hull a cushioned contact point on the vehicle roof.
- 11438-7: For Kayak. This configuration includes two supporting foam blocks for kayak transport, keeping the setup lighter and matched to the shape of a kayak.
Installation and use
Set the foam blocks on the boat before placing it on the vehicle roof, then center the craft so the weight sits evenly. The straps run over the boat and through the vehicle or roof area as appropriate for the vehicle, while the bow and stern should be tied with the included rope and S-hooks to help reduce movement during braking, turns, and highway wind.
Before driving, check that the boat is centered, the straps are snug, and the bow and stern lines are secure. Recheck the tie-downs after a short distance, especially after loading in rain, heat, or wind, since straps and contact points can settle once the vehicle is moving.
Compatibility and fit
This carrier is meant for temporary car-top transport rather than permanent mounting. It is a good match for boaters, paddlers, and families carrying a single canoe, kayak, or small boat for weekend lake runs, fishing trips, campground launches, or quick dockside access without storing a trailer.
Because vehicles and hull shapes vary, always confirm roof strength, tie-down points, and local transport requirements before loading. The kit helps create a secure transport setup, but safe use still depends on proper positioning, careful strap routing, and regular checks during the trip.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
