Overview

The Perko 0227 is a horizontal mount bi-color navigation light for the bow of power-driven vessels under 20 meters, or 65.6 feet, in length. It combines red and green lenses in one compact housing, giving the required port and starboard visibility from a single deck-mounted fixture.

This incandescent navigation light is 2-mile USCG certified and uses a 12V bulb rated at 10 watts with a .80 amp draw. The housing measures 3-1/4 inches long, 2-1/4 inches wide, and 1-1/2 inches high, so it fits well on many foredeck and bow cap locations where a low horizontal profile is needed.

The 0227 series is a practical match for small powerboats, center consoles, runabouts, and replacement projects where the boat already uses a horizontal bow light. The red and green lens layout, gold-plated contacts, and #6 screw mounting size give installers clear points to check before replacing an existing fixture.

This product is offered in two finish configurations. Both variants are part of the Perko 0227 horizontal mount bi-color light range and share the same navigation-light function, 12V incandescent electrical rating, 2-mile certification, lens colors, dimensions, and #6 screw mounting size.

The finish and base color are the visible differences between the two options, which matters most when matching the light to existing deck hardware, rail fittings, or a white fiberglass foredeck.

• 0227DP0CHR: Chrome finish. This version uses a chrome-plated zinc alloy top with a black polymer base, giving the light a traditional bright-metal look on the bow.
• 0227DP0WHT: White finish. This version uses a white PERKO-KOTE zinc alloy top with a white polymer base, which blends more easily with white fiberglass decks and consoles.

Installation and fit

Mount this light on a horizontal surface at the bow where the red and green lenses have an unobstructed forward arc. Before drilling, compare the 3-1/4 inch by 2-1/4 inch footprint and #6 screw requirement with the existing light or planned mounting area.

For replacement work, confirm the wire route, screw hole locations, and lens orientation before final fastening. As with any exterior navigation light, the mounting surface should be sealed properly to reduce water intrusion around the fasteners and wiring pass-through.

Electrical and system notes

The included bulb is for 12V applications. The 0227 series can be used in certain 24V ABYC A-16 applications only when fitted with the correct 24V replacement bulb, so the vessel voltage, build date, and certification needs should be checked before using it outside the supplied 12V setup.
