Overview
The TACO Marine GS-380XL is a Grand Slam 380XL outrigger top mount with an offset handle, made for hardtop installations on larger center-console fishing boats. It fits hard tops up to 4-1/2" thick and is commonly used on boats in the 35 to 50 foot range, where the top may also carry electronics, antennas, lights, and other sport fishing gear.
This mount lets the crew control outrigger vertical lift and horizontal rotation from underneath the hardtop, which matters when lines need to be adjusted while trolling or when conditions make working above the top unsafe. It is sold as a port and starboard pair and uses a top-mounted 4" x 6" base.
The GS-380XL works with TACO Sport Fishing 1-1/2" heavy-duty telescopic outriggers in aluminum or carbon fiber. Its longer body helps clear thicker tops, while the offset handle can be set in different positions to suit the available space below the hardtop.
Key features
- Fits hardtop applications up to 4-1/2" thick, making it suitable for larger center-console boats with thicker tops.
- Offset handle layout helps with hand clearance under the top, with handle positions for aft or 90° inboard mounting.
- Controls outrigger lift and rotation from below the hardtop, so adjustments can be made from the deck while fishing.
- Compatible with TACO Sport Fishing 1-1/2" heavy-duty telescopic outriggers in aluminum or carbon fiber.
- Type 316 stainless steel and anodized aluminum construction helps the mount handle saltwater exposure when cleaned and maintained properly.
- Top-mounted 4" x 6" base supports a secure hardtop installation.
- Sold in pairs for port and starboard outrigger setups.
- Compatible with TACO backing plates and wedge plates when extra support or top-angle correction is needed.
- Covered by a three-year limited warranty.
Installation and fit
This mount is intended for hardtop use where the structure can support an outrigger base. For cored or foam-filled tops, spacers should be used where the mounting bolts pass through so the top is not compressed when the hardware is tightened.
The installation calls for a 3-1/8" center hole and enough clearance around the handle movement. The center of the hole should be located at least 9-1/2" from the hardtop frame, vertical post, or any other obstruction that could interfere with the handle.
Backing plates are recommended when mounting through a hardtop, and wedge plates may be used on arched tops to keep the Grand Slam mounts upright. The pull pin should face outboard for access, which is important during normal cockpit use.
On-board use
The GS-380XL suits offshore and coastal trolling setups where the crew needs to deploy, raise, lower, and rotate outriggers without leaving the deck. It is a practical match for larger center consoles that run wider trolling spreads and have hardtops with enough thickness or equipment load to need the XL body length.
Because the controls sit below the top, the mount is especially useful when the boat is moving, when seas are rough, or when quick outrigger adjustments are part of the fishing routine.
Materials and care
The stainless steel and anodized aluminum construction is built for marine use, but it still needs normal saltwater care. Rinse the mounts and outriggers thoroughly with fresh water after use, and avoid wax or caustic cleaners on the components.
For long-term operation, use a marine-grade lubricant that resists washing away and keep the moving points clean. This helps the handles and locking hardware continue to move the way they should through repeated fishing trips.
