Overview

The Garmin 010-11052-68 is the Course Computer Unit (CCU) for Reactor 40 autopilot installations that interface with Volvo-Penta steering systems. It is the sensor and processing hub that tracks the boat heading and rate of turn so the autopilot can steer based on real-time motion data.

The CCU ties into a NMEA 2000 network to exchange data with a compatible helm control and other NMEA 2000 devices on board. This part is commonly used when building a Reactor 40 system around a Volvo-Penta setup, or when replacing a failed course computer in an existing installation.

Key features
  • Course Computer Unit (CCU) for Reactor 40 systems intended for Volvo-Penta steering integration
  • Measures heading and rate of turn for autopilot steering calculations
  • NMEA 2000 network connection for control and data sharing with compatible displays and onboard sensors
  • Works on the same NMEA 2000 backbone as a GHC 20 control unit and other NMEA 2000-compatible devices
  • Mounts on a rigid surface and should be kept clear of strong magnetic fields and high-current cabling to avoid sensor interference
Compatibility and fit

This CCU is intended for Reactor 40 autopilot configurations built around Volvo-Penta installations. It is not a complete autopilot by itself, and it relies on the rest of the Reactor 40 components, the correct steering interface hardware for the boat, and a properly built NMEA 2000 network.

For systems with more than one network on board, the CCU needs to be on the same NMEA 2000 network as the device used to configure and control the autopilot.

Installation and setup

Plan the mounting location before drilling. A spot near the center of the boat, away from speakers, large DC motors, and heavy battery cable runs, helps the CCU sense clean heading and turn-rate data. A handheld compass is a quick way to check for magnetic interference in the area you are considering.

After mounting, connect the CCU into the Reactor 40 harness and the NMEA 2000 network, then complete dockside setup and sea-trial calibration from the helm control or compatible Garmin display.

Use on board

This CCU is a good match for Volvo-Penta boats that run longer stretches under power and want consistent course keeping for cruising, fishing, and trolling. It is also the right replacement part when a Reactor 40 system loses heading or turn-rate information and the rest of the steering hardware checks out.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
