Overview

The Garmin 010-01403-10 is a gWind Race and nWind connector adapter cable bundle for sailboats that already run a Nexus wind network. It lets you replace an older nWind masthead transducer with a gWind Race transducer while keeping your existing Nexus mast cable, so you can update the sensor without pulling a new cable through the spar.

The adapter cable bridges the connector change between nWind and gWind. The gWind Race sensor uses a three-bladed propeller and a twin-fin vane to read wind speed and angle, which helps when you are trying to hold steady numbers in lighter air.

Key features
  • Made for Nexus owners replacing an nWind transducer with a gWind series sensor, using the existing Nexus mast cable.
  • Includes an nWind-to-gWind connector adapter cable to mate the new transducer to the legacy mast wiring.
  • gWind Race wind sensor uses a three-bladed propeller and a twin-fin vane for wind speed and angle readings.
  • Supports a clean retrofit when you want to refresh a masthead sensor without re-running mast wiring.
  • Propeller installation instructions are included for correct assembly after transport or service.
What's included

Compatibility and fit

This bundle is intended for boats with an existing Nexus network that previously used an nWind wind transducer. It is a straightforward swap when your mast is already wired with the Nexus mast cable and you want to keep that cable in place.

If your boat does not have the Nexus mast cable or you are building a system from scratch, plan the network layout first so the connector style at the masthead matches the rest of your wind instrumentation.

Installation and setup

Most installs follow a simple path: remove the old nWind transducer, mount the gWind Race transducer in the same location, then connect the adapter cable between the transducer lead and the existing mast cable. Secure the connection so it is not carrying strain from mast movement, and protect the joint from spray and washdowns.

After mounting, confirm vane alignment and check your instrument calibration on the water. Small alignment errors at the masthead show up quickly as persistent wind-angle offsets.

Use on board

This is a good match for performance cruisers and race crews who want to keep a proven Nexus instrument setup but replace a worn nWind sensor with the gWind Race style. It also helps when you are chasing intermittent wind readings caused by aging masthead connectors, since the adapter cable refreshes that interface.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
