Overview

The TACO Marine GS-170-2 is a Grand Slam 170-2 center rigger mount made for 1-1/8 inch center rigger poles on offshore and center console fishing boats. It gives the boat a dedicated center rigger position for running a long bait farther back in the spread, which is useful when trolling for pelagic fish and keeping baits separated cleanly behind the transom.

The mount uses spline lock technology with adjustment points every 18 degrees, so the rigger can be lifted, lowered, and set for fishing, trailering, or passing under bridges. Delrin bearings help the movement feel smooth under hand adjustment, while the stainless steel internal locking mechanism and locking lever keep the pole position controlled once it is set.

Construction combines stainless steel and anodized aluminum, giving the unit the corrosion resistance needed for saltwater use when it is rinsed and maintained properly. It is sold individually and can also serve as a mounting base for a ShadeFin 5 ft x 6 ft shade setup when paired with compatible TACO Marine shade components.

Key features
  • Fits standard 1-1/8 inch center rigger poles for a clean match with compatible center rigger setups.
  • Spline lock adjustment lets the rigger lock at 18 degree intervals for controlled height and laydown positioning.
  • Sure-Grip knob gives hand control over lift adjustments without relying on loose or improvised hardware.
  • Locking lever secures outbound rotation so the rigger stays in the intended running or fishing position.
  • Delrin bearings support smooth operation when adjusting the mount during setup or breakdown.
  • Stainless steel internal locking mechanism helps control movement under normal offshore trolling use.
  • Stainless steel and anodized aluminum construction suits exposed T-top and hardtop installations in saltwater environments.
  • Sold as a single center rigger mount for boats adding or replacing one center rigger position.
Installation and setup

This mount is commonly installed on a T-top or hardtop where the boat has enough structure to support the load from a raised center rigger. On canvas top installations, a mounting plate should be used between the brace bars to add support before the base is installed.

The installation uses a through-bolted layout and requires access to the underside of the mounting area. Careful placement matters, since the rigger needs room to rotate, lay down, and clear antennas, rods, outriggers, and other top-mounted hardware.

Use cases on board

This mount is a practical fit for offshore trolling layouts where a center rigger is used to pull a long bait behind the rest of the spread. It is especially useful on center consoles that need a clean centerline rigger position without adding a full pair of side outriggers.

The laydown adjustment also helps when the boat is stored, trailered, or moved under low bridges. For fishing crews that regularly change between running, fishing, and storage positions, the indexed adjustment and locking hardware make the process more controlled.

Maintenance and care

After saltwater use, rinse the mount with fresh water and clean it with mild, non-abrasive soap. Avoid harsh cleaners on the anodized aluminum and stainless hardware, since residue and dried salt can shorten the service life of moving parts and finishes.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
