Overview
The B&G 000-14843-001 is a WS310 wired wind sensor pack that delivers masthead wind angle and wind speed data to your instruments, supplied with a 35 m mast cable and a wired interface module.
This pack is built for a hard-wired installation on sailing yachts where you want dependable wind data for sailing performance and for wind-driven functions in your instrument or autopilot system. The interface supports connection to an NMEA 2000 network and can also feed a compatible NMEA 0183 input, and it is powered on 12 V DC systems (9 to 16 V DC working range).
Key features
- Wired masthead wind sensor pack with a 35 m mast cable for running from masthead to below-deck electronics
- Interface module for tying the sensor into an NMEA 2000 network (Micro-C) or to a compatible NMEA 0183 input
- 12 V DC system support with a 9 to 16 V DC operating range at the interface
- Interface draws 1 LEN on the NMEA 2000 network
- Interface housing rated IPX7 for better survivability around damp nav stations and occasional spray
- NMEA 0183 wind sentences supported: MWV and R
- Supports longer cable runs up to 80 m for installations on taller rigs
What’s included
- WS310 wired wind sensor
- WS310 wired interface module
- 35 m mast cable
Installation and setup
The sensor mounts at the masthead, so plan the cable route before you go aloft. The 35 m mast cable is intended to run down the mast and into a dry location below deck where the interface can be mounted with good strain relief on the cable.
For NMEA 2000 installs, the interface connects to the backbone with a Micro-C connection. Make sure the network is correctly powered and terminated, and leave service slack so the connector is not carrying cable weight. For NMEA 0183 installs, connect the interface to a compatible NMEA 0183 input that accepts standard wind sentences.
Compatibility and fit
This pack suits sailboats that need a wired wind sensor at the masthead and want wind data available on an NMEA 2000 backbone or via NMEA 0183. The included 35 m cable is a practical fit for many mid-size rigs, while support for longer runs helps when the masthead distance is greater.
The interface has a 300 mm compass-safe distance guideline, so avoid mounting it close to a magnetic compass or other sensitive magnetic instruments.
Use on board
This setup fits coastal cruising boats and club racers that rely on accurate wind angle and wind speed data at the instruments, at the helm, or for wind-aware steering functions. It is also a good match when you prefer a wired run up the mast and want to avoid managing batteries or charging at the masthead.
Maintenance and care
Check the masthead sensor during routine rig inspections for free movement of the cups and vane, and rinse with fresh water after heavy salt exposure. If wind readings become erratic, inspect the cable run for chafe points and confirm the connectors are fully seated and supported so vibration is not working them loose.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
