Overview
The Attwood Marine LightArmor All-Round Navigation Light is an LED pole light made for use with the Attwood PowerBase Light system on power-driven boats up to 39.4 ft, or 12 m. It gives 360° white visibility rated to 2 NM, or 3.7 km, which makes it a practical fit for small powerboats that need an all-round navigation light mounted high enough above the red and green sidelights.
This 5590 Series light works only with the Attwood PowerBase Light 6100-LT Series and is not a universal plug-in pole for standard fixed bases. The articulating head adjusts from 15° forward to 15° aft, helping the light sit level on installations where the PowerBase or mounting surface is not perfectly flat.
Key features
- LED all-round white navigation light with 360° visibility rated to 2 NM, or 3.7 km.
- For power-driven vessels up to 39.4 ft, or 12 m, when selected and installed according to applicable navigation-light rules.
- Compatible only with the Attwood PowerBase Light 6100-LT Series.
- Articulating head adjusts from 15° forward to 15° aft for angled mounting applications.
- Rated for 50,000 hours of use.
- Made to meet USCG CFR 183.810, ABYC C-5 and A-16, EN/ISO 19009:2015, 1972 COLREGS, and US Inland Navigation Rules when installed properly.
- Available in 24", 30", 36", and 42" pole lengths to match vessel layout and required light height.
Variants
This LightArmor PowerBase all-round light is offered in four pole lengths so the installation can be matched to the boat’s windshield, hardtop, rail layout, and sidelight height.
The pole length changes between variants. The 5590 Series all-round LED function, PowerBase compatibility, 360° coverage, and 2 NM visibility rating remain consistent across the range.
- 5590-24-7: 24" pole length. This shorter pole works well where the mounting point already gives the light enough height above the sidelights without adding extra overhead reach.
- 5590-30-7: 30" pole length. This size adds clearance for many console and windshield layouts while keeping the pole moderate in height.
- 5590-36-7: 36" pole length. The taller pole helps raise the all-round light above more surrounding deck hardware, seating, or console structure.
- 5590-42-7: 42" pole length. This is the tallest configuration in the group and gives additional height where the PowerBase is mounted lower or farther from the boat’s highest sight line.
Compatibility and fit
This light is for the Attwood PowerBase Light system only. It is not intended for other fixed, fold-down, or plug-in navigation-light bases, so the existing base on the boat should be confirmed before ordering.
For boats under 12 m, the all-round light must be positioned at least one meter above the red and green sidelights, measured at the center of the light source. The available pole lengths give installers room to match that requirement on different helm, deck, and hardtop layouts.
Installation and setup
During installation, the pole wiring routes through the PowerBase breakaway opening and connects to the PowerBase wire harness with pin connectors. The pole is then inserted into the PowerBase unit and fastened after the pole and base holes are aligned.
For the all-round light setup, the light head should be adjusted so it sits parallel to the vessel’s normal resting float position. After installation, the PowerBase should be cycled between stowed and deployed positions, and the navigation light should be checked from the helm switch before the boat is used at night.
Use on board
This light is a good match for small powerboats that use the PowerBase powered fold-down system and need the all-round light to deploy from the helm instead of being raised or lowered by hand. It is especially useful on boats where bridges, storage covers, trailering, or low clearance make a fixed-height pole less convenient.
Maintenance and service
The light assembly is not user serviceable and should be replaced if it is damaged, altered, or reaches 20 years from the installation date. When replacing an existing navigation light, the replacement should have at least the same pole length and rated visibility as the original installation.
