Overview

The B&G 000-14388-001 is a wireless interface that links a WS320 wind sensor to a boat’s NMEA 2000 network using Bluetooth 4.0. It connects through a Micro-C NMEA 2000 port, runs from 9 to 16 V DC supplied by the network, and draws 2 LEN, so it fits cleanly into an existing instrument backbone.

On board, it’s the bridge between the masthead sensor and your displays or MFD, sending apparent wind angle and speed into the network without running a wind cable through the mast. Wireless range is suitable for mast heights up to 25 m (80 ft).

The enclosure is rated IPX7 and the unit is compact at about 90 mm diameter by 38 mm high, which helps when mounting near the nav station, inside a cockpit locker, or under a deck where it stays protected but still has good wireless reception.

Key features
  • Bluetooth 4.0 wireless link for pairing and data transfer with the WS320 wind sensor
  • NMEA 2000 connectivity via 1 Micro-C port for straightforward backbone integration
  • 9 to 16 V DC input from the NMEA 2000 network
  • Network load of 2 LEN for predictable power budgeting on the backbone
  • Wireless range appropriate for mast heights up to 25 m (80 ft)
  • IPX7-rated environmental protection for spray and washdown exposure
  • Compact base station size of approximately Ø 90 mm x 38 mm high
  • Compass safe distance of 300 mm (12 in) to help reduce magnetic interference near a compass
Installation and setup

Plan to pair the WS320 sensor and the interface before the wind sensor goes up the mast. For pairing to succeed, keep the wind sensor within 0.5 m (1.6 ft) of the interface, power up the NMEA 2000 network, then power the wind sensor and allow the pairing process to complete. After pairing, confirm wind data is updating on the network device list before final mounting.

Mount the interface where it stays dry, accessible, and within a reasonable run to the NMEA 2000 backbone. Avoid placing it right next to high-current wiring, large metal enclosures, or RF-heavy equipment that can make wireless connections less consistent.

Electrical and network integration

This interface is built for NMEA 2000 networks using Micro-C cabling. It takes its power from the backbone, so the network needs to be properly powered and terminated, just like any other NMEA 2000 installation. With a 2 LEN load, it is easy to account for on systems where multiple sensors and displays share the same backbone power feed.

Compatibility and fit

This unit is intended for use with the B&G WS320 wind sensor and a standard NMEA 2000 instrument network. It is a good match when you want WS320 wind data available on NMEA 2000 displays or an MFD without running a dedicated mast cable for the wind sensor.

Use on board

It fits sailboats that cruise or race and want clean wind data on the network while keeping mast work simple. It also makes sense for refits where pulling new cables through an existing mast is difficult or where you want to keep the rigging interior uncluttered.

If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
