Overview
The B&G 000-13714-001 is a masthead wind sensor that feeds wind speed and wind angle into Triton2, Triton, IS42, IS40, and IS20 instrument systems over a NMEA 2000 network using a SimNet connector.
This is supplied as the sensor only, so it is intended to connect to an existing mast cable rather than coming with new cabling. It is also compatible with earlier 508 and IS20 wind sensor mast cables and brackets, which helps when you are replacing a failed unit and want to keep the current mast wiring and mounting in place.
It’s a good match for sailors who already run a wired B&G instrument network and want consistent wind data for sailing angles, performance pages, and autopilot wind modes.
Key features
- Reports wind speed and wind angle from the masthead to compatible B&G instrument displays.
- NMEA 2000 networked output with a SimNet connector at the sensor end.
- Sensor-only package for replacements where the mast cable is already installed.
- Compatible with previous 508 and IS20 wind sensor mast cables and brackets.
- Quick-release clamp system on the masthead bracket for easier removal when servicing or laying up.
- Masthead bracket includes a cable clamp to provide strain relief at the mast exit point.
What's included
- Wind sensor
- Gasket
- Masthead bracket
- Protective cap for the plug
- Four No. 10 self-tapping screws
Installation and setup
The sensor mounts to the masthead bracket using locating pegs and a locking clamp, which keeps it secure while still allowing removal without unfastening the bracket. The bracket supports different mast cable exit approaches and includes a built-in clamp so the cable weight and vibration are not carried by the connector.
Allow at least 75 mm (3 in) of free cable at the masthead to make the connection cleanly and to avoid stressing the plug. After installation, wind angle calibration is required at the display so the wind reference matches your boat’s bow.
Compatibility and fit
This wind sensor is intended for Triton2, Triton, IS42, IS40, and IS20 systems and is commonly used as a direct replacement in existing wired installations. Compatibility with earlier 508 and IS20 wind sensor mast cables and brackets can save time when the mast cable run is staying in place.
Since a mast cable is not included, confirm the connector style on your current mast cable and verify that the cable length and routing suit your mast and deck gland arrangement.
Maintenance and care
If the boat is being laid up or lifted, taking the sensor down reduces the chance of accidental damage aloft. When the cable is disconnected, fit the protective cap over the plug to help keep salt and moisture away from the electrical contacts.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
