Overview
The Garmin 010-00957-00 is a digital black box network sounder that adds traditional sonar to a compatible Garmin chartplotter over the Garmin Marine Network. It supports 50/200 kHz operation with sounder output up to 2,000 W RMS depending on the transducer, and it runs on 10 to 35 V DC for typical 12 V or 24 V systems.
This module is built for installations where you want the sounder hardware out of the helm display and in a protected location, then share sonar views across the network. Maximum depth is up to 5,000 ft (1,512 m) with the right transducer and conditions.
The housing is IPX7 water resistant, and the unit measures 204 x 283 x 81 mm (8.0 x 11.2 x 3.2 in). Plan the mounting location so it stays out of standing water and has airflow for heat management.
Key features
- 50/200 kHz sonar support with sounder output up to 2,000 W RMS (transducer dependent)
- Selectable transmit power levels of 600 W, 1 kW, or 2 kW when paired with an appropriately rated transducer
- Sonar data output over the Garmin Marine Network to compatible networked chartplotters
- 10 to 35 V DC input with 40 W maximum power usage and a 7.5 A fuse requirement
- Fully gasketed aluminum and steel housing with IPX7 water resistance
- Compass safe distance of 40 cm for planning placement around magnetic compasses
What's included
- GSD 24 sounder module
- Power cable
- Marine network cable (6 ft)
- Mounting hardware
- 8-pin female to wire block adapter
- Software update SD card
- Documentation
Installation and setup
Mount the module where it cannot be submerged and where there is adequate ventilation. Leave enough clearance to see the status LEDs and to connect the power, network, and transducer cables without sharp bends, then secure the wiring along its run so it does not chafe in vibration.
After physical installation, connect it to the networked chartplotter system and apply power. Software updates are handled through the chartplotter using a memory card when needed.
Compatibility and fit
This sounder is intended for boats using the Garmin Marine Network. It connects to a compatible chartplotter either directly or through a network port expander, and sonar information can be viewed on networked displays once it is online.
A transducer is required for operation and is not included. The transducer selection and installation have a direct impact on performance, including the usable power level and achievable depth.
Electrical and system integration
Power input is 10 to 35 V DC, which covers common 12 V and 24 V house systems. Use the specified 7.5 A fuse and route the supply wiring as a protected circuit from your distribution panel or breaker system.
Maximum power usage is 40 W. For clean sonar performance, keep power runs tidy, avoid sharing the feed with noisy loads when possible, and maintain solid battery and ground connections.
Use on board
On fishing boats and cruisers that already rely on a networked Garmin helm, this module is a practical way to add a dedicated sounder for bottom tracking and target separation without taking space at the display. It is also a good fit when you want sonar available on more than one screen through the onboard network.
Maintenance and care
Periodically inspect cable connections for corrosion and make sure locking rings are snug. If the unit is installed in a damp locker, keep the area ventilated and check that the module remains above any bilge water line.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
