Overview
The Raymarine Micro Compass is a solar-powered tactical compass for dinghy, keelboat, and small-boat racing where a clear heading, tactical scale, and race timer need to be visible from the rail or hiking position. It is a wireless instrument, so there are no power cables or network connections to run through the boat.
The Micro Compass is built for exposed sailing use, with waterproof construction rated submersible to 10 m. Twin displays make the numbers easier to read from either side of the boat, while the tactical mode helps keep port and starboard tack readings consistent so small wind shifts are easier to spot during racing.
Key features
- Solar-powered operation removes the need for wired power during normal use.
- Waterproof housing rated submersible to 10 m for exposed cockpit and dinghy use.
- Wireless setup avoids cable runs, mast wiring, and bulkhead holes.
- Tactical compass mode shows stable port and starboard tack figures for reading wind shifts.
- Twin displays keep heading data readable when hiking or viewing from either side of the boat.
- Race countdown timer includes a resynchronization function for starting sequences.
- Snap-in cradle supports quick fitting and removal when the boat is packed down or stored.
- Low battery indicator and automatic power-down after 7 minutes with no motion help manage onboard use.
- No southern hemisphere adjustment is needed, which simplifies setup for sailors traveling between regions.
Variants
The product is offered in two package configurations. Both are Raymarine Micro Compass options, with the main difference being the mounting package supplied with the unit.
The compass functions remain centered on wireless solar-powered heading, tactical scale, and race timer use. The variant choice is mainly about the mounting hardware needed for the boat and where the display will sit.
- T060: Standard package type. This configuration suits installations using the standard Micro Compass mounting arrangement, with the display kept low-profile and easy to remove when needed.
- T061: With strap bracket package type. This configuration includes the strap bracket option, which is useful when the compass needs to be secured with a strap-style mounting setup on a dinghy or racing sailboat.
Installation and use on board
The Micro Compass is a good match for sailors who want heading information without adding a wired instrument system. Because it is self-powered and wireless, installation is simpler than a conventional electronic compass and is well suited to boats where weight, space, and deck clutter matter.
Mount the display where both tacks can be read without shifting position, checking that the view is clear from normal steering and hiking locations. The snap-in style mounting also helps when the compass needs to be removed after racing or protected during storage.
Fit and compatibility notes
This is a stand-alone racing compass rather than a multifunction network display. It is intended for sailors who need heading, tactical scale, and race timer information at the boat, not for integration into a 12V or 24V NMEA instrument network.
For class racing, confirm that electronic compass use and mounting location are allowed under the applicable class rules before installation. This is especially important on one-design dinghies and small keelboats where compass type and placement may be restricted.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
