Overview

The Garmin 010-10193-22 is a bronze thru-hull triducer with an 8-pin connection that delivers depth, speed, and water temperature from one fitting. It runs traditional 50/200 kHz sonar at 600 W, giving a wide 45° beam at 50 kHz for deep-water bottom tracking and a tighter 12° beam at 200 kHz for sharper target detail in shallower water.

This is the long-stem version, which helps when the hull is thicker or has more deadrise. Installation uses a 51 mm (2") thru-hull hole and a fairing block that is cut to match the hull angle (up to 24° with the fairing) so the transducer sits correctly in the water flow. With the fairing fitted properly, it supports solid readings at cruising speeds up to 30 knots on fiberglass or wood hulls.

Key features
  • Depth, speed (paddlewheel), and temperature sensing in a single thru-hull housing
  • 600 W, 50/200 kHz sonar with 45° beam at 50 kHz and 12° beam at 200 kHz
  • Long stem for thicker hull sections and steep-deadrise installations
  • High-performance fairing block for cleaner flow and better tracking at higher speeds (up to 30 knots)
  • Requires a 51 mm (2") hull cutout and uses 2.00"-12 UN thru-hull threads
  • Retractable insert with a self-closing valve that reduces water flow when the insert is removed for cleaning
  • 8-pin plug for Garmin sonar systems that accept an 8-pin transducer connection
Compatibility and fit

This transducer is a thru-hull install for fiberglass or wood hulls and is commonly chosen when you want traditional 50/200 kHz sonar plus speed and temperature without adding multiple sensors. The fairing is part of the installation and is cut to match the hull so the sensing face runs true in the water. If your Garmin display or sonar module uses a different transducer port style, plan on the correct adapter so the 8-pin plug can interface cleanly.

Installation and setup

Plan the location carefully so it stays in clean water flow and remains accessible from inside the boat for service. The fairing needs to be aligned parallel to the keel, and the anti-rotation hardware is part of keeping the fairing from shifting underway. Because this is a below-the-waterline fitting, use a marine sealant intended for underwater thru-hull installs and follow standard best practices for bedding, tightening, and re-checking after initial use.

Use cases on board

This setup fits coastal cruising and fishing boats that want dependable bottom tracking at speed while keeping hull penetrations to a minimum. It is also a good match for owners who like having speed through water from a paddlewheel along with water temperature, especially for trolling, drift fishing, and general navigation where current can make GPS speed less useful.

Maintenance and care

Speed sensors rely on a clean paddlewheel, so occasional cleaning is part of keeping accurate readings, especially in warm water where growth builds quickly. The retractable insert and self-closing valve make service easier, but it is still smart to have the boat secured at the dock and be prepared for some water intrusion during insert removal. Inspect the bedding area periodically and keep the bronze housing protected with proper bonding practices for your boat’s system.
