Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 5001 is a MEGA/AMG fuse block with an insulating cover for 100 to 300A circuit protection on 12V or 24V systems up to 32V DC. It accepts 5/16 inch M8 ring terminals and is built for high-current DC feeds where you need a single fuse mounted in a clean, protected way.
This style of block is commonly used close to batteries and on feeds for inverters, chargers, windlasses, thrusters, and main DC distribution circuits that use MEGA or AMG fuses. The cover has cable breakouts in three directions, which helps when routing is tight along a bulkhead or inside a battery compartment, and the fuse itself is sold separately so the circuit can be matched to the required amperage.
Key features
- Fits MEGA and AMG fuses in the 100A to 300A range
- Rated for DC systems up to 32V, covering typical 12V and 24V boat electrical setups
- 5/16 inch M8 stud connections work with common marine ring terminals and cable up to 2/0 AWG
- Insulating cover meets ABYC and USCG insulation requirements and allows cable entry from three directions
- Stainless steel studs and insert-molded mounting points help keep the fuse connection secure under vibration
- Reinforced PBT base and polycarbonate cover handle heat better than light-duty fuse holders
Installation and fit
This block is meant for single-fuse protection on a high-current branch or feed. It works best where the cable run can reach the studs without a hard bend and where there is enough room to remove the cover for service. The published torque values of 110 in-lb at the terminal and 120 in-lb at the stud are useful when you want a firm connection without over-tightening the hardware.
For a boat refit or a new DC installation, this is a straightforward way to add overcurrent protection near the power source while keeping the fuse enclosed. The covered layout is easier to live with in service areas where exposed fuse studs would be a poor fit.
Materials and construction
The base is reinforced PBT, the cover is polycarbonate, and the fuse studs are stainless steel. That combination makes sense in marine electrical spaces where heat, vibration, and corrosion are part of normal use. The insert-molded studs also help the fuse sit firmly in place during installation and later maintenance.
Use on board
This fuse block suits owners, yards, and marine electricians working on boats with a single high-current DC circuit that needs MEGA or AMG fuse protection. It is especially useful when the goal is a covered fuse connection that stays accessible for inspection and fuse changes without adding a larger multi-circuit block.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
