Overview

The Garmin 010-11480-00 is a NMEA 2000 network updater that lets you run software updates to compatible Garmin devices through your NMEA 2000 backbone using a Secure Digital (SD) memory card (512 MB or larger).

It is meant for Garmin devices on the network that do not have a built-in card reader. The updater connects temporarily during an update session and is not water resistant, so it should not be installed permanently on the boat.

During the update, a colored status LED shows what is happening: red for an error or missing update files, orange while the update is running, and green when the process finishes successfully.

Key features
  • Updates Garmin devices on a NMEA 2000 network that are not equipped with a card reader
  • Uses an SD memory card (512 MB or larger) to carry the update files
  • Connects temporarily to the NMEA 2000 backbone using a T-connector, then removes when finished
  • Not water resistant, so it belongs in a dry location during use and off the boat system afterward
  • Status LED feedback: red (error or no update on card), orange (update in progress), green (completed successfully)
  • Update preparation requires a PC with an SD card reader and an internet connection
What’s included
  • NMEA 2000 Network Updater
  • NMEA 2000 T-connector
Compatibility and fit

This updater is for NMEA 2000 networks and will only update Garmin devices. It is intended for items on the backbone that cannot accept updates directly from a card slot, so it is most useful when you have enclosed instruments or components tied into the network where software access is otherwise limited.

Installation and update process

Load the update files onto an SD memory card using a computer, then connect the updater to an open point on your NMEA 2000 backbone with the supplied T-connector. Power up the NMEA 2000 network, insert the prepared SD card into the updater, and watch the LED until the update completes.

Do not remove the SD card and do not turn off the NMEA 2000 network while the update is running, since interrupting an update can damage connected devices. When finished, power down the network, unplug the updater and the T-connector, then power the network back up and confirm everything is communicating normally.

Use on board

Because the unit is not water resistant, plan to run updates at the dock or on a calm day and keep the updater in a dry space such as the cabin while it is connected. This is a good match for boaters who maintain a Garmin NMEA 2000 system and want a straightforward way to keep networked devices current without pulling equipment out of the dash or opening housings to access a card slot.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
