Overview

The Raymarine E70328 is a p70s autopilot control head for sailboat installations using Raymarine Evolution autopilots and SeaTalkng networking. It gives the helm a push-button pilot interface with dedicated one-degree and ten-degree course change keys, a 3.45 inch TFT LCD display, 320 x 240 resolution, and 1,200 cd/m2 brightness for readable pilot data in changing cockpit light.

This controller runs from a 12 V dc supply with a 9 V dc to 16 V dc operating range and low power consumption at about 1.57 W. The housing carries IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings, which makes it suitable for exposed helm pods, cockpit panels, and other locations where spray and rain are part of normal use.

The p70s connects through a SeaTalkng port and works with Raymarine and NMEA 2000 networks, so it can sit cleanly within a modern navigation and autopilot system. It is a good match for sailors who want physical course-change buttons instead of a rotary control, especially on cruising and performance sailboats where quick helm input matters.

Key features
  • Push-button p70s pilot controller made for sailboat autopilot control, with dedicated plus and minus keys for one-degree and ten-degree course changes.
  • 3.45 inch TFT LCD screen with 320 x 240 resolution, 16-bit color, and 1,200 cd/m2 brightness for clear pilot information at the helm.
  • Optically bonded display helps reduce fogging and keeps contrast readable in wet cockpit conditions.
  • SeaTalkng connection supports integration with Raymarine systems and NMEA 2000 marine networks.
  • Supports common pilot modes including Auto, Standby, Pattern, Track, Wind Vane, Power Steer, and Jog Steer.
  • 12 V dc operation with a 9 V dc to 16 V dc operating range and protection up to 32 V dc.
  • IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings for exposed marine installations subject to spray, rain, and washdowns.
  • LightHouse interface and a sculpted keypad give direct control without relying on touchscreen operation.
  • Supplied with black and gunmetal bezel options to suit different Raymarine helm layouts.
Installation and setup

The unit is intended for panel mounting at the helm or another protected-but-accessible control position. Its published front dimensions are 110 mm wide by 115 mm high, with a listed depth of 151.65 mm when cable bend radius is included, so the mounting location should leave enough clearance behind the panel for the SeaTalkng connection and strain relief.

For best results, plan the SeaTalkng backbone, spur cable route, power feed, and access to the keypad before cutting the panel. The controller should be mounted on a secure surface that can support the unit and should be positioned where the helmsman can see pilot status and make course corrections without reaching across the cockpit.

Compatibility and system integration

The p70s is built around SeaTalkng, with compatibility for Raymarine and NMEA 2000 networks. It is suited to Evolution autopilot systems and can display pilot information in different formats, with setup options for leisure, cruising, and performance sailing use.

When used with a Raymarine wind instrument, the wind vane steering mode can support AutoTack control. That makes the unit especially relevant for sailboats where autopilot steering may need to follow compass, track, or wind-based commands depending on the passage and conditions.

Use cases on board

This control head makes sense on sailboats where the autopilot is adjusted often from the cockpit, such as coastal cruisers, club racers, and offshore boats using an Evolution pilot. The physical keypad is useful when the boat is moving, hands are wet, or a fast one-degree or ten-degree correction is needed without working through a touchscreen menu.

Maintenance and care

Rinse salt and grime from the face and keypad with fresh water after exposure, then wipe it dry with a soft cloth. Keep the suncover fitted when the boat is unattended to help protect the display surface from long-term UV exposure, deck dirt, and cockpit spray.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
