Overview
The Raymarine A80540 is a wireless expansion hub for Ray90 and Ray91 VHF radio systems. It connects directly to the radio system’s transceiver module and allows up to three wireless handset stations to be added, giving the crew more freedom to communicate from the helm, cockpit, deck, or below without running a wired handset station to every location.
The hub uses encrypted digital networking to carry both data and audio between the VHF system and compatible wireless handset stations. It is also used with Ray63 and Ray73 VHF radios when paired with the R70739 wireless handset adapter cable, which is sold separately.
A 5-meter interconnect cable is included for the Ray90 and Ray91 installation path, making it easier to place the hub where it has a practical cable route and stays out of the way. Wireless handsets and remote speakers are separate components and should be matched to the vessel’s Raymarine VHF setup.
Key features
- Adds wireless handset capability to compatible Raymarine VHF radio systems.
- Supports up to three wireless handset stations for onboard communication away from the main radio location.
- Connects directly to the Ray90 or Ray91 transceiver module.
- Works with Ray63 and Ray73 VHF radios when used with the R70739 wireless handset adapter cable.
- Encrypted digital networking carries both audio and data between the hub and wireless handset stations.
- Includes a 5-meter interconnect cable for flexible placement during installation.
- Mounting hardware and documentation are included for a clean onboard setup.
Installation and setup
For Ray90 and Ray91 systems, the hub is installed as part of the modular VHF layout and connects to the transceiver module using the included interconnect cable. The unit can be positioned in an out-of-sight location, provided the cable path and access for service are practical.
For Ray63 and Ray73 radios, the wireless hub requires the R70739 adapter cable. This is an important fit check before ordering, especially when adding wireless handsets to an existing VHF installation rather than building a new Ray90 or Ray91 system.
Compatibility and fit
This hub is a good match for boats where the crew needs VHF access from more than one working area, such as a flybridge, cockpit, aft deck, or cabin. It is especially useful when adding communication points without the extra routing work of a fully wired handset station.
Confirm that the vessel’s VHF radio is a compatible Raymarine Ray90, Ray91, Ray63, or Ray73 model and that the required handset stations are being added separately. The hub expands the wireless side of the system but does not replace the radio, antenna, handset, or speaker components needed for a complete installation.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
