Overview
The Raymarine A80289 is a wired second-station handset for Ray60 and Ray70 fixed mount VHF radios. It gives you a second control point for the radio, so you can work calls and radio settings from another part of the boat without going back to the main unit.
This handset is a practical upgrade for boats with more than one operating position, such as a flybridge boat, pilothouse, or a layout where the main radio is down below. It is waterproof to IPX6 and IPX7, has a built-in 1 W speaker, and uses a large LCD with high-contrast text and graphics that stay readable in daylight and at night.
It also adds station-to-station intercom calling between the handset and the main radio. That is useful when you need quick communication between helm positions, the cabin, or the cockpit while docking, running offshore, or managing deck work.
Key features
- Works as a full-function second station for compatible Ray60 and Ray70 VHF radios.
- IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof rating for installation in exposed helm areas or protected interior stations.
- Oversized LCD with high-contrast text and graphics for day and night use.
- Built-in 1 W speaker for voice audio at the handset location.
- Station-to-station intercom calling between the handset and the main radio.
- Supports longer cable runs with optional 5 m, 10 m, and 15 m handset extension cables.
Installation and setup
This is a wired remote handset, not a standalone VHF radio. It connects to the secondary handset connection on a compatible Ray60 or Ray70, which makes it a good fit when the main radio is installed inside a console, at a lower helm, or in a cabin and you still want control from another station.
On a larger boat, extension cables can help route the handset to a second helm, tower, or aft control point without moving the main radio. The waterproof housing also makes it easier to place the handset where spray, washdown water, and open-air use are part of normal operation.
Compatibility and fit
This model is intended for Ray60 and Ray70 systems where a second wired station makes daily operation easier. It suits skippers who run the boat from more than one location and want direct access to radio functions and intercom without leaving the active helm.
For smaller boats with a single helm and easy reach to the main VHF, a second station may not add much. On boats with a bridge, enclosed cabin, or separate working deck area, it can make onboard communication and radio access much more straightforward.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
