Overview

The Garmin 010-02251-10 is a flush-mount USB SD card reader that brings chart cards and update media out to an easy-to-reach spot at the helm. It accepts up to two full-size SD cards for quick access to charts, software updates, and ActiveCaptain data.

The housing is fully gasketed and rated IPX7 for incidental water exposure, and the body measures 50.8 x 50.8 x 61 mm (2 x 2 x 2.4 in.) excluding the cable. It runs on 4.75 to 5.25 Vdc, uses up to 2.5 W at 5 Vdc, and is specified for operation from -15 to 70°C (5 to 158°F).

Key features
  • Holds up to two full-size SD cards so chart regions and update cards can stay loaded and easy to swap.
  • Flush-mount form factor with a 2 in x 2 in face footprint for clean installs on crowded dashes.
  • IPX7 water rating and fully gasketed, high-impact plastic construction for wet helm environments.
  • Connects to a compatible chartplotter via USB; an included USB-C adapter supports GPSMAP 9000 series installations.
  • Electrical specs: 4.75 to 5.25 Vdc input, 100 mA typical draw at 5 Vdc, 500 mA max draw at 5 Vdc (2.5 W max).
  • Compass-safe distance of 53.3 cm (21 in.) to help avoid magnetic compass interference.
Installation and setup

Plan the mounting spot so the SD slots are reachable when you need to load charts or run updates. For a typical flush install, the cutout is made with a 38 mm (1 1/2 in.) hole saw, then the unit is secured with two screws after drilling 2.7 mm (3/32 in.) pilot holes.

Route the cable with a little slack, keep it away from known interference sources, and install the ferrite bead near the connector. Maintain at least 53.3 cm (21 in.) of separation from a magnetic compass.

Electrical and system integration

This accessory operates on 5 Vdc (4.75 to 5.25 Vdc) and includes an in-line 7.5 A, 42 V fast-acting fuse in the power lead. Keep the fuse holder in place, and follow standard marine practice for protected wiring runs and clean grounds.

Compatibility and fit

The reader connects to the USB port on a compatible chartplotter to make SD cards easier to access at the helm. A USB-C adapter is included for installations that require USB-C, such as GPSMAP 9000 series units.

This is a good match for boaters who update charts regularly, move between regions, or prefer not to pull a display just to reach a card slot. It also helps when the back of the helm is tight or hard to reach once the electronics are installed.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
