Overview
The MotorGuide 8M0092070 is a PinPoint GPS navigation upgrade for MotorGuide Xi Series bow-mount trolling motors, adding GPS-guided control from a wireless handheld remote. It lets you hold the bow on a fixed GPS coordinate with Anchor mode, store and recall up to eight positions, and fine-tune the hold by jogging the boat in 5-foot steps.
For covering water, it can lock a compass heading, record and replay up to eight routes of up to four miles each, and hold a GPS speed while running a heading or route. This setup makes sense for anglers who spend time on structure and want steadier boat control when wind or current starts pushing the bow around.
Key features
- PinPoint GPS control for compatible non-GPS MotorGuide Xi Series bow-mount trolling motors
- Wireless handheld remote runs GPS modes plus steering and speed adjustments
- Anchor mode holds position on a fixed GPS coordinate and stores up to eight anchor locations
- Anchor position can be jogged in 5-foot increments in any direction while staying in Anchor mode
- Heading Lock keeps the boat tracking a selected compass heading
- Route record and playback stores up to eight routes, up to four miles each
- Cruise Control holds a GPS speed while navigating a heading or a saved route
Compatibility and fit
This navigation system is used to upgrade non-GPS Xi Series motors to PinPoint GPS functionality. It supports Xi Series setups across 12V, 24V, and 36V systems. Before ordering, confirm your trolling motor is an Xi Series version that accepts the PinPoint GPS module.
Installation and setup
Installation places the GPS modules into the trolling motor assembly and links the handheld remote to the motor during initial power-up. After the hardware is in, plan on completing the required mounting angle calibration and compass calibration so GPS and heading functions track correctly on your boat.
Keep anchors and other iron objects at least 36 inches from the trolling motor when using GPS features, and route the trolling motor power leads together and away from the motor as much as practical. GPS reception can be affected by bridges, tall trees, buildings, mountain ranges, and severe weather, so give the system a clear view of the sky when you can.
On-the-water notes
GPS-guided modes steer and correct position, but they do not detect shallow water, other boats, or objects in the water. Keep a watch and be ready to take manual control any time you are close to docks, rocks, or traffic.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the trolling motor with fresh water after use and keep the mount area clean. Avoid pressure washing the trolling motor assembly, and check wiring connections periodically for looseness or corrosion.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
