Overview

The Victron Energy Lynx Smart BMS is a battery management system for Victron Lithium Battery Smart batteries, built for high-current DC systems using the modular Lynx distribution platform. It supports 12, 24 and 48 V battery systems, has a 9-60 VDC battery voltage range, and is offered in 500 A and 1000 A versions so the installation can be matched to the vessel’s DC load profile.

On board, this unit sits at the center of the lithium battery system rather than acting as a standard solar charge controller. It combines battery protection, a main safety contactor, battery monitoring, pre-charge for inverter loads, and communication with Victron monitoring equipment. That makes it relevant for cruising boats, fishing vessels, and larger onboard power systems where lithium batteries feed inverter/chargers, DC loads, alternator charging, and solar charging through a managed Victron ecosystem.

Key features
  • Dedicated BMS for Victron Lithium Battery Smart batteries, with support for systems built around 12, 24 or 48 V architecture.
  • Available with 500 A or 1000 A current ratings to suit different high-current DC installations.
  • Built-in safety contactor can protect the battery system and also act as a remote controllable main system switch.
  • Integrated battery monitor reports state of charge, voltage, current, status information, history, and alarms through compatible Victron monitoring tools.
  • Built-in pre-charge circuit helps limit inrush current when connecting capacitive loads such as inverter/chargers.
  • Bluetooth connection allows setup and monitoring through the VictronConnect app.
  • VE.Can connection links the BMS to a GX device for local display, VRM remote monitoring, and wider Victron system control.
  • NMEA 2000 integration is available through VE.Can with the proper VE.Can to NMEA 2000 micro-C cable, useful when battery data needs to reach a marine network or MFD.
  • ATC and ATD contacts can control compatible chargers and loads that use a remote on/off input.
  • DVCC closed loop control works with compatible Victron inverter/chargers and MPPT solar chargers through a connected GX device.
  • AUX output supplies up to 1.1 A at system voltage for selected equipment such as a GX device after load shutdown events.
  • Monitors fuse status for up to 4 connected Lynx Distributor modules when used with compatible Lynx Distributor hardware.
  • ABS enclosure, tinned copper busbars, and an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +60 °C support use inside protected marine electrical spaces.
Variants

The Lynx Smart BMS range is offered in multiple configurations so the main DC rating and busbar hardware can match the vessel’s lithium bank and cable lug setup.

The current rating and busbar connection size are the key differences between these variants. The product role remains the same across the range: lithium battery management, contactor-based protection, battery monitoring, pre-charge, VictronConnect setup, GX device integration, and Lynx distribution system support.

  • LYN034160200: 500 A current rating with M8 busbar connections. This version fits a 500 A Lynx Smart BMS installation where the DC cable lugs and existing busbar hardware are based on M8 connections.
  • LYN034160210: 500 A current rating with M10 busbar connections. This version keeps the 500 A rating while using M10 busbar hardware for installations standardized around larger Lynx connection points.
  • LYN034170210: 1000 A current rating with M10 busbar connections. This version is the higher-current option for larger DC systems that need the 1000 A Lynx Smart BMS platform and M10 connections.
Compatibility and system integration

This BMS is for Victron Lithium Battery Smart batteries, not a universal lithium BMS for mixed third-party battery banks. It can manage banks made from compatible 12.8 V or 25.6 V batteries in series, parallel, or series and parallel layouts, with up to 20 batteries in one system.

For a full Victron marine power system, the Lynx Smart BMS works naturally alongside Lynx Distributor modules, a GX device such as a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, compatible inverter/chargers, compatible MPPT solar chargers, and VictronConnect. In this type of installation, the BMS can help coordinate charge and discharge control instead of leaving every charging source to operate independently.

Installation and mounting

Install the unit in an electrical space that stays dry and protected, such as a DC distribution locker or a service area near the battery bank. Its IP22 protection class is intended for sheltered locations, so it should not be mounted where it will be exposed to salt spray, washdowns, or standing bilge moisture.

Plan cable sizing, fusing, lug size, and busbar torque around the selected variant. The busbar material is tinned copper, and the M10 models use 33 Nm torque on the busbar connections, with a lower torque requirement applying only to earlier 1000 A units with specific serial numbers.

Use cases on board

This product is a strong fit for boats moving from lead-acid to Victron lithium house banks, especially when the DC system includes inverter/charger loads, solar charging, alternator charging control, and remote monitoring. It is also well suited to vessels where battery status needs to be visible at the helm, on a GX display, or through remote monitoring while away from the boat.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
