Overview

The i2Systems LL-101 is a compact marine dimming module that lets you control compatible i2Systems LED lights from a simple momentary switch on a 12V or 24V boat, with a 6 to 36 VDC input range.

A quick tap handles on and off, and a press-and-hold starts the dimming cycle. While the switch is held, brightness steps between 100% and approximately 5% intensity, then reverses direction so you can land on the level you want. When the lights are turned back on, they come up at full brightness.

With a small footprint (about 1.5 in wide x 1.0 in deep x 0.5 in high) and an encapsulated module that tucks into many switch boxes, it is a practical way to add dimming to a lighting zone without installing a larger control panel.

Key features
  • Works on DC lighting systems from 6 to 36 VDC, including 12V and 24V installations
  • Uses a normally open momentary switch: tap for on or off, press and hold to dim
  • Dimming cycle steps between 100% and approximately 5% intensity, then reverses direction while the switch remains engaged
  • Returns to full brightness when switched back on, regardless of the previous dim level
  • Controls up to 20 compatible i2Systems fixtures from a single module
  • Compact size of about 1.5 in wide x 1.0 in deep x 0.5 in high for mounting inside many switch boxes
  • Common-ground control: one DIM signal lead to each light when the module and fixtures share DC common
  • Supports multiple momentary switches wired in parallel for more than one control point on the same zone
Compatibility and fit

This module is intended for dimmable i2Systems LED fixtures, including families such as Apeiron, Ember, and Profile. It also supports compatible i2Systems lighting runs that use the LightLink control signal.

It is not a universal dimmer for random LED lights. For the cleanest result, confirm the fixtures on the circuit are i2Systems dimmable models that accept the LightLink DIM control signal.

Installation and setup

Mount the LL-101 close to the lights it controls and keep it accessible for troubleshooting. Many installations place it inside the switch box that houses the momentary dimming switch, which keeps the module protected and wiring tidy.

Power is fed to Vin (red) and Common (black), and a fuse should be installed in series with Vin. For smoother behavior, the module is commonly powered from a non-switched DC feed so it stays powered while the momentary switch handles the on and off command.

Electrical and system integration

The DIM output provides the control signal to the fixtures and uses the DC common as the reference. When the module and lights share DC common, only the DIM control wire needs to run to each light, which can simplify wiring in refits.

For clean dimming without flicker, use stranded 18 AWG wire rated to 105 C, keep lighting wiring away from AC runs where possible, and secure connections so vibration cannot loosen them. Twisting the DIM, Vin, and Common conductors together, or using shielded cable, can help reduce interference.

Mounting environment

Install the module in a dry or damp location and avoid mounting where water can collect, pool, or puddle. In saltwater boats, keep splices protected with marine-grade connectors and seal them so spray and washdowns cannot wick into the wiring.

Use on board

This is a good match for boats that want one-button dimming on a zone of i2Systems cabin downlights, step lights, courtesy lighting, or cockpit lighting. It also fits well when you want more than one control location on the same lighting zone without adding a second dimmer module.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
