Overview
The Victron Energy ASS070200100 is a control cable for connecting a Smart BMS CL 12-100 to compatible Victron MultiPlus inverter/chargers in systems where the BMS does not use a VE.Bus interface. It lets the BMS control the MultiPlus through the remote on/off connection, so the inverter/charger can respond when the battery management system needs to protect the lithium battery bank.
This cable is used with MultiPlus 500VA-1600VA models, MultiPlus Compact 800VA-2kVA models, and MultiPlus-II models. It is also suitable for BMS products without a VE.Bus interface, including the Smart BMS CL 12-100 and smallBMS, using the Load/Charge Disconnect or Load/Charger outputs.
For boat electrical systems, this is a small but important integration part when adding or servicing Victron lithium battery protection around a MultiPlus. It belongs in a protected electrical area near the BMS and inverter/charger, with wiring kept secure against vibration and away from moisture, heat, and chafe points.
Key features
- Connects a Victron Smart BMS CL 12-100 to compatible MultiPlus inverter/charger models without using VE.Bus control.
- Supports MultiPlus 500VA-1600VA, MultiPlus Compact 800VA-2kVA, and MultiPlus-II installations.
- Lets the BMS control the MultiPlus through the remote on/off connector when battery protection conditions require action.
- Works with the Smart BMS CL 12-100 Load/Charge Disconnect output and the smallBMS Load/Charger output.
- Helps the MultiPlus switch back on and begin charging after a low battery shutdown once the BMS side is reset and AC power is available.
- Useful for marine lithium battery upgrades where the inverter/charger must follow the BMS rather than operate independently.
Installation and setup
The cable is wired to the remote on/off connector of the MultiPlus. On MultiPlus 500VA-1200VA models, the black wire connects to the ON terminal and the red wire connects to the positive terminal. On MultiPlus Compact 800VA-2kVA models, the black wire connects to the middle terminal and the red wire connects to the right IN terminal. On MultiPlus-II models, the black wire connects to the lower negative terminal and the red wire connects to the upper positive remote on/off terminal.
Both the relevant BMS output and the MultiPlus remote input state must be correct for the MultiPlus to operate. After a shutdown caused by low battery voltage, the system can be reset by running the alternator or using a battery charger on the primary side of the BMS. Once reset, the MultiPlus can switch on and start charging when it is connected to an AC power source.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is for Victron systems built around Smart BMS CL 12-100 or smallBMS control and a compatible MultiPlus inverter/charger. It is not a general data cable and should not be treated as a replacement for VE.Bus communication where VE.Bus control is required by the system design.
Before installation, match the MultiPlus model family to the correct remote on/off terminal wiring. This is especially important on refits, where older inverter/chargers, lithium battery upgrades, and existing DC distribution wiring may already be in place.
Use cases on board
This cable is a good match for cruising boats, fishing boats, and compact marine power systems using Victron LiFePO4 Smart Batteries with a Smart BMS CL 12-100 and a compatible MultiPlus. It is most useful when the battery management system needs direct authority over the inverter/charger so battery protection events are handled cleanly.
Because this is a control connection rather than a power cable, careful routing matters. Keep it supported, avoid sharp bends, and install it where the terminals remain accessible for inspection during routine electrical checks.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
