Overview
The Attwood Marine Flexible Grab Handles is a family of flexible boat handholds for flush mounting on surfaces where a rigid rail is not the right fit. These handles use soft polypropylene webbing over a semi-rigid core, with an over-molded grip for a more secure handhold when moving around the boat.
They are suited for swim platforms, cockpits, companionways, and other onboard areas where passengers or crew may need a low-profile grab point. The flexible construction helps the handle sit against irregular surfaces and angles, while the soft edges make it more forgiving in tight traffic areas.
The range meets the ABYC H-41 strength requirement for withstanding a 400 lb load in any direction. The materials are non-corrosive, UV stable, and mildew-resistant, making these handles a practical choice for wet deck zones, exposed cockpit spaces, and boats that see regular sun and spray.
Key features
- Flexible grab handle for flush mounting on flat, angled, or irregular boat surfaces.
- Soft polypropylene webbing over a semi-rigid core gives the handle flex without sharp exposed edges.
- Over-molded grip helps the user keep a steadier handhold when boarding, moving through the cockpit, or stepping through a companionway.
- Meets ABYC H-41 strength requirements for a 400 lb load in any direction.
- Non-corrosive materials resist UV exposure and mildew in marine environments.
- Four mounting holes are used with #12 fasteners for secure attachment to the chosen surface.
Variants
This product is offered in two configurations that share the same basic flexible grab handle concept with an over-molded grip.
The main difference is the handle format: one version is the standard flexible grab handle, while the other is an extended version for applications that call for a longer handhold.
- 2061-5: Flexible Grab Handle W/Over-Molded Grip. This version suits compact mounting spots where a low-profile handhold is needed on a swim platform, cockpit side, or companionway area.
- 2080-1: Flexible Grab Handle W/Over-Molded Grip, Extended. The extended format gives a longer grab area for installations where more reach or hand placement space is useful.
Installation and fit
These handles mount with four #12 fasteners. Match the fastener material and length to the mounting surface, and use a backing plate or proper reinforcement where the substrate is thin, cored, or subject to high loads.
Before drilling, hold the handle in place and check the grip angle with the boat layout in mind. Common locations include boarding points, cockpit transitions, companionways, and swim platform areas where a handhold can help passengers move with better control.
Use on board
This handle range works well for owners replacing worn flexible handles or adding a softer grab point where a rigid metal rail would be bulky or awkward. It is especially useful on small boats, tenders, fishing boats, and cruising boats where space is limited and passengers may brush against nearby hardware.
