Overview
The Lumitec Contour Drop-In Navigation Light is a flush-mount LED navigation light made to sit in a Contour pocket in a hardtop, arch, or pilothouse. It is offered as dedicated port (red), starboard (green), or stern (white) outputs for building a proper running-light set.
It runs on 10-30 VDC for 12V and 24V systems and carries a U.S. Coast Guard 2 nautical mile visibility rating. Typical draw is 18-26 mA at 12 VDC or 12-15 mA at 24 VDC, and the drop-in mount size is 2.5 in W x 1.17 in H x 1.5 in D.
Key features
- Drop-in style that sits low and keeps fasteners out of sight once installed
- 10-30 VDC input for 12V and 24V boats
- U.S. Coast Guard 2 nautical mile visibility rating
- Conforms to ABYC A16
- Navigation sectors match standard running-light coverage: 112.5 degrees for sidelights and 135 degrees for the stern light
Variants
This light is offered in multiple configurations based on the required navigation position and color output.
Across the range, the electrical input remains 10-30 VDC and the lights are rated for 2 nautical miles. The difference between versions is the output position (port, starboard, or stern) and its corresponding color.
- 101846: Color output port (red). Used for the port-side running light sector when underway at night or in reduced visibility.
- 101836: Color output starboard (green). Used for the starboard-side running light sector and typically paired with the matching port light.
- 101866: Color output stern (white). Used at the aft-facing stern position to complete the required running-light signature.
Installation and setup
The Contour drop-in format relies on a universal pocket profile that is commonly molded into the hardtop during manufacture. Before ordering, confirm the boat has the correct Contour pocket and that the available depth supports a 1.5 in drop-in body.
Route wiring to your navigation light switch location with protected runs through the hardtop or structure, and keep all connections sealed for the spray and vibration typical in elevated mounting locations.
Electrical and system integration
Connect to a 10-30 VDC navigation-light circuit on 12V or 24V systems using appropriately sized marine wiring and circuit protection. The low current draw helps keep the running-light load modest for long night runs.
Placement and compliance
Mount the port and starboard versions where they have clear visibility forward and to their respective sides, and mount the stern version with clear visibility aft. When installed in the correct position, the series is USCG compliant for vessels from 0 to 50 meters.
Use cases on board
This style suits boats where you want navigation lights integrated into a hardtop, tower, or pilothouse rather than standing proud on a rail. It is a practical fit for new builds and refits where a custom pocket can be molded or machined into the structure for a clean, snag-resistant installation.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
