Overview

The TACO Marine GS-390XL-180 is a Grand Slam 390XL outrigger mount set with a 180° handle for boats that need controlled outrigger lift and rotation from below the hardtop or T-top. It is made for sport-fishing boats in the 25' to 50' range and fits hardtops up to 4-1/2" thick, making it a practical match for larger center consoles and offshore fishing layouts with thicker tops.

This pair of mounts lets the crew adjust vertical lift and horizontal rotation from the boat deck, which matters when sea conditions make climbing or reaching above the top unsafe. The 35° upward lift angle helps position outriggers for trolling spreads, while the offset 180° handle gives extra hand clearance where a standard handle orientation would be tight.

The construction uses cast stainless steel and machined aluminum, with a locking head that holds the outrigger position once set. It pairs with TACO Deluxe Aluminum and Carbon Fiber Tele-Outriggers that use the compatible 1-1/2" pin-locking outrigger format.

Key features
  • Sold as a pair for port and starboard outrigger mounting on offshore fishing boats.
  • Made for 25' to 50' boats with hardtops or T-tops up to 4-1/2" thick.
  • 180° handle layout gives added hand clearance for installations where handle swing space is limited.
  • Vertical lift and horizontal rotation can be operated from under the T-top, keeping adjustments closer to the deck.
  • 35° upward lift angle helps set the outrigger position for trolling spreads and clearance.
  • Offset handle improves access around thicker tops, frame tubing, electronics boxes, and other overhead hardware.
  • Locking head holds the outrigger in position after adjustment.
  • Cast stainless-steel and machined aluminum construction suits exposed saltwater fishing installations.
  • Compatible with TACO Deluxe Aluminum and Carbon Fiber Tele-Outriggers using the 1-1/2" pin-locking format.
  • Backed by a 3-year limited warranty.
Installation and fit

Before ordering, confirm the hardtop thickness, available handle clearance under the top, and the mounting area on the T-top, arch, or hardtop. The XL body is intended for thicker tops, and the 180° handle orientation is useful when the underside of the top has limited room around the normal handle position.

The mounting surface should be strong enough for outrigger loads, especially when running longer poles, trolling in rough water, or pulling heavier offshore spreads. Backing support and proper fastener installation are important because outrigger mounts transfer leverage into the top structure.

Compatibility and use on board

This mount set is a good match for offshore and coastal fishing boats where the crew needs to deploy, lift, and rotate outriggers without leaving the deck area. It suits center consoles and similar sport-fishing boats that run TACO 1-1/2" pin-locking aluminum or carbon fiber tele-outrigger poles.

For buyers replacing older mounts or planning a new hardtop installation, the main checks are pole compatibility, top thickness, underside clearance, and whether the 180° handle orientation fits the helm and cockpit layout better than a standard handle.

Materials and care

The stainless-steel and aluminum construction is built for the exposed areas of a fishing boat, but it should still be rinsed with fresh water after saltwater trips. Keep the moving parts clean, check fasteners during regular maintenance, and remove outriggers from the mounts when trailering to reduce loads on the system.
