Overview
The TACO Marine GS-950 is an electric masthead anchor and stern light mount for hardtop-equipped powerboats 39 ft and under, or 12 m and under. It lets the operator raise or lower the top-mounted navigation light from the helm, which is useful when clearance, storage, trailering, bridges, or rough conditions make climbing onto seats or gunwales a poor option.
The light runs on 12V for light function and uses four 3-watt Cree LED chips with two Mean Well drivers. The unit is listed with a 6-watt stern light, a 12-watt anchor light, low draw of 0.6 amps per light, and 12-24VDC low-voltage operation for the electric mount. It is certified for the USCG-required 2 nautical miles of visibility and is built for installation on hardtops with wiring hidden inside the top.
The mount uses a machined and anodized aluminum body with a light brushed finish, a threaded shaft for controlled lift and descent, and bearings that help the light move smoothly. A removable set pin allows manual adjustment, adding a practical backup for service or dockside handling.
Key features
- Electric raise and lower control lets the light be adjusted from the helm instead of from the deck or gunwale.
- Made for powered vessels 39 ft and under, or 12 m and under.
- Certified for USCG-required 2 nautical miles of visibility.
- 12V light function with four 3-watt Cree LED chips driven by two Mean Well drivers.
- 6-watt stern light and 12-watt anchor light with low draw of 0.6 amps per light.
- Low-voltage 12-24VDC operation supports common marine electrical systems.
- Hidden wiring through the hardtop keeps the installation clean and protected from exposed routing.
- Machined and anodized aluminum body with a light brushed finish for exposed hardtop mounting.
- Threaded shaft supports steady lift and descent, while the removable set pin allows manual adjustment.
- Fits hardtop installations and accommodates different top thicknesses.
Installation and setup
The GS-950 mounts on the surface of the hardtop, with the wiring routed through the top rather than left exposed. This makes it a good match for center consoles, walkarounds, dual consoles, and other powerboats where the navigation light needs to sit high enough for visibility but still fold down when the boat is stored or moved under low clearance.
Plan the mounting location so the light has a clear arc to raise and lower without hitting antennas, outriggers, radar domes, canvas, or other hardtop accessories. The 12V DC light lead should be connected into a protected marine electrical circuit, and the control wiring should be routed where it will not chafe or collect water.
Electrical and system fit
This is a navigation light assembly for boats with standard DC systems, not an NMEA device or network accessory. Its value is in the powered mechanical lift and the integrated LED light, so compatibility comes down to voltage, hardtop mounting space, visibility position, and wiring access.
The low current draw helps when the anchor light will be used for long overnight periods, and the electric lift is especially useful on boats where the hardtop carries several accessories. It suits owners who want a clean hardtop installation and helm-controlled movement without adding a separate manual pole or removable light.
Materials and maintenance
The machined and anodized aluminum body is appropriate for an exposed marine mounting point, but it should still be rinsed and cleaned as part of normal saltwater maintenance. Keep the moving parts free of salt buildup, avoid harsh cleaners around the finish and wiring, and check fasteners and wire strain relief during routine service.
What’s included

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
