Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 1228 is a 120V AC branch circuit breaker panel with eight positions for distributing onboard AC power to individual circuits. It is built in the 360 Panel System format and comes with eight single-pole 15A breakers, a 100A maximum panel rating, and a compact footprint that measures 7.75 in high, 4.88 in wide, and 3.00 in deep.
All circuit label positions are backlit, and each position has an ON indicator LED, so circuit status is easier to read in a cabin, nav station, or interior electrical space. This is a branch panel rather than a combined main and branch panel, which matters if your boat already has a separate AC main breaker or source-selection section.
It also arrives with hot, neutral, and safety ground buses already installed and pre-wired. That makes it a practical choice for new AC distribution work or for replacing an older panel where clean branch-circuit organization matters.
Key features
- Eight 120V AC branch circuit positions with included single-pole 15A breakers
- 100A maximum panel amperage for properly sized AC distribution systems
- Backlit label windows and ON indicator LEDs at every circuit position
- Hot, neutral, and safety ground buses are installed and pre-wired
- Tin-plated copper bus bars for conductivity and better resistance to corrosion in marine electrical spaces
- 360 Panel System format supports modular panel layouts and future expansion
- Compact panel size for installations where space behind the face is limited
Installation and fit
This is an interior branch panel, so it belongs in a protected mounting location where the face stays accessible for switching, labeling, and routine checks. The included cutout template helps when you are fitting it into a new panel board or replacing a panel in an existing AC distribution area.
Because it uses the 360 Panel System format, it works well in custom panel layouts where the AC branch section sits alongside other control or source modules. On board, eight branch positions are enough for many common 120V AC loads, provided the circuit design, conductor sizing, and upstream protection match the vessel's electrical plan.
Electrical configuration
This panel is set up for 120V AC service and ships with eight flat rocker 15A breakers already fitted. The 100A panel rating gives room for multiple branch circuits, but the final allowable load still depends on using wire and overcurrent protection sized correctly for the installation.
For refits, this panel is a good match when the boat already has a separate AC main breaker arrangement and the job here is to split incoming AC power into clearly labeled branch circuits. For new builds, it suits builders and owners who want a compact AC branch section with the internal buses already in place.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
