Overview
The Garmin 010-12824-00 is a power and NMEA 0183 data cable harness for the Garmin AIS 800 Blackbox Transceiver. It brings the transceiver onto the boat’s DC supply and breaks out the conductors you need for basic power, NMEA 0183 talk/listen wiring, and optional control inputs.
This harness uses color-coded leads for fast troubleshooting during install or service: red for power, black for ground, purple and gray for NMEA 0183 receive (RxA/RxB), blue and brown for NMEA 0183 transmit (TxA/TxB), plus yellow (Accessory On) and green (silent mode). It also supports Safety-Related Messages (SRM) over the AIS 800’s NMEA 0183 interface.
Key features
- Built for the Garmin AIS 800 Blackbox Transceiver power and NMEA 0183 connection
- Power leads for vessel DC wiring: red (+) and black (-)
- NMEA 0183 receive pair: purple RxA (+) and gray RxB (-)
- NMEA 0183 transmit pair: blue TxA (+) and brown TxB (-)
- Yellow Accessory On lead for switched installations in NMEA 0183 systems
- Green silent mode lead for an optional toggle that sets the unit to receive-only
Installation and setup
Route the harness from the AIS 800 to your DC distribution and secure it so it cannot chafe in vibration. Leave a drip loop where it enters a console or electronics box, and keep the run tidy around the transceiver so the connector and strain relief are not taking the load.
Connect red to the positive feed and black to the negative ground, using appropriate overcurrent protection and marine-grade terminations. If you want a helm switch, the yellow Accessory On lead is used in NMEA 0183 setups; the green lead can be put on a switch to quickly revert the AIS 800 to silent mode when needed.
Electrical and system integration
Use the NMEA 0183 pairs when you need to pass AIS data to or from a chartplotter, PC, VHF, or other NMEA 0183 talker/listener. Match the + and - conductors as pairs (RxA/RxB and TxA/TxB), and maintain good separation from high-current wiring to keep noise out of the data lines.
On boats running NMEA 2000, the AIS 800 still uses a dedicated power connection and does not draw power from the backbone. In that type of network, the yellow Accessory On lead is not required for automatic power control.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is intended for Garmin AIS 800 installations and replacements. Confirm your transceiver model and the port you are connecting to before ordering, especially if you are replacing an older harness or working around existing splices in the boat.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
