Overview

This Garmin sonar transducer is a combo unit that runs traditional sonar alongside ClearVü scanning sonar, with options that cover 50/200 kHz or 77/200 kHz, mid-band CHIRP, or high-wide CHIRP for traditional, plus ClearVü at 260/455 kHz, 455/800 kHz, or UHD 800 kHz depending on configuration.

It is offered in transom-mount and thru-hull-mount versions, so the mounting style can match your hull access, running attitude, and how permanent you want the install to be.

Key features
  • Traditional sonar and ClearVü scanning sonar in one transducer body
  • Traditional sonar options include 50/200 kHz, 77/200 kHz, mid-band CHIRP, and high-wide CHIRP
  • ClearVü options include 260/455 kHz, 455/800 kHz, and UHD 800 kHz (configuration dependent)
  • Available as a thru-hull mount or a transom mount to suit different hulls and mounting access
  • Supports side-by-side use of traditional depth and fish targets with ClearVü structure detail below the boat
  • Works well for boats that see mixed conditions where bottom lock and structure definition matter
Variants

This transducer range is available in multiple configurations. The main differences are the installation method (thru-hull mount or transom mount) and the sonar bands offered for traditional sonar and ClearVü.

Traditional sonar varies between fixed dual-frequency options (50/200 kHz or 77/200 kHz) and CHIRP options (mid-band CHIRP or high-wide CHIRP). ClearVü varies between 260/455 kHz, 455/800 kHz, and UHD 800 kHz, which affects how much fine bottom and structure detail you can pull out in typical fishing depths.

Installation and setup

For transom-mount installs, placement matters more than most people expect. Mount it where the face stays in clean water at speed, away from strakes and steps that introduce bubbles, and route the cable so it is supported and does not chafe in vibration.

For thru-hull installs, plan the hole location from inside and outside the hull before cutting. Leave room for the nut, washers, and cable bend radius, and use a marine sealant that matches your hull material. A careful dry fit before bedding helps avoid surprises once sealant is on the flange.

Compatibility and fit

Confirm that your display or sonar module supports the sonar types you want to use, including CHIRP and the specific ClearVü band. Also confirm the connector and sonar port match your system before installation, since different Garmin sonar ports use different pin counts and adapters are not universal.

If you are moving from a basic dual-frequency transducer to a CHIRP or UHD scanning setup, take a moment to confirm the sounder channel support and how many sonar sources your display can run at the same time.

Onboard use

This is a solid match for coastal fishing boats, center consoles, and bay boats that want a clear depth picture on traditional sonar while also seeing bottom changes and structure with ClearVü. It also makes sense for cruisers that want better situational awareness when working channel edges, shoals, and rocky bottoms.

Maintenance and care

Keep the transducer face clean so growth does not soften the return, especially if the boat stays in the water. During routine checks, inspect the cable jacket and the mounting hardware, and make sure the transducer has not shifted after trailering or a hard run in chop.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
