Overview

The Hella Marine 959700701 is a surface-mount interior/exterior utility lamp that puts out warm white light (3000K) on 12/24V DC systems while drawing under 2.5W. It has a compact footprint at 140 x 65 x 32 mm (5.5 x 2.56 x 1.25 in), making it easy to place on bulkheads, in lockers, or under side decks without eating up space.

This version is w/out switch, so it is meant to be controlled from your existing lighting circuit or a separate switch. The housing is IP67 completely sealed for wet locations, and it is ISO 8846 ignition protected for use in areas where flammable vapors may be present. Power comes in through a 500 mm pre-wired twin-core marine cable.

Key features
  • Warm white 3000K output that reads comfortably for interior spaces while still working as a practical utility light
  • Multivolt 12/24V DC operation with low draw: < 2.5W (< 0.20A @ 12V / < 0.10A @ 24V)
  • IP67 completely sealed for damp compartments, washdowns, and exterior mounting locations
  • ISO 8846 ignition protection for installation in higher-risk onboard areas where vapors can be present
  • Surface-mount size: 140 x 65 x 32 mm (5.5 x 2.56 x 1.25 in); weight 115 g including cable
  • Pre-wired with 500 mm of twin-core marine cable for straightforward hook-up
  • UV-resistant, enhanced impact acrylic lens with a heavy-duty nylon shroud and white housing
  • Low EMC noise to help avoid interference with onboard radio communications
Installation and setup

Mount the lamp on a clean, flat surface where the wide beam can spill into the area you are trying to light. The fastening load is taken up by the bush mount, which helps reduce stress on the lamp housing when it is tightened down on a bulkhead or overhead panel.

Plan your cable run before fastening the unit in place. The lamp is pre-wired with 500 mm of twin-core cable, so most installs will involve extending the leads with tinned marine wire and sealed connectors. Keep splices out of direct bilge water, leave a small drip loop when mounting under a deck, and protect the circuit with appropriate overcurrent protection as part of your vessel wiring.

Compatibility and fit

This lamp runs on both 12V and 24V DC systems and does not have an integrated switch. If you are replacing an older cabin or locker light that had a built-in switch, plan for external switching at the panel, at a bulkhead switch, or via an existing circuit.

Use the overall dimensions (140 x 65 x 32 mm) to confirm clearance where the lamp will sit and where the cable will route behind the mounting surface. The warm white 3000K tone is a good match when you want utility lighting that feels softer in cabins, passageways, and storage spaces.

Use cases on board

This style of lamp is commonly used for engine rooms, lazarettes, storage lockers, cockpit lockers, and under-deck compartments where you want broad light coverage without needing a recessed fixture. It also works well as a general interior utility light in cabins or under gunwales on fishing boats where wiring access is limited.

Maintenance and care

The sealed construction keeps routine maintenance simple. Rinse salt residue as needed and wipe the lens with mild soap and water to keep the acrylic clear. Periodically check the cable support and any extension splices to make sure they stay dry, supported, and corrosion-free.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
