Overview

The Blue Sea Systems Traditional Metal AC/DC combination breaker panel is a European 230V AC and 12V DC distribution panel for bringing shore power, onboard AC circuits, and DC branch circuits together at the helm, nav station, or main electrical panel.

This panel range suits boats that need a structured AC and DC breaker layout in one metal panel, with configurations covering either 1 or 2 AC sources, 6 or 12 AC positions, and 15 or 19 DC positions. AC and DC buses are installed and fully pre-wired, which helps reduce layout work during a refit or new electrical installation.

Pre-installed label backlighting and ON-indicator LEDs in the circuit positions make the panel easier to read during night running, dockside checks, and low-light cabin use. A 100A C-Series toggle circuit breaker handles DC main circuit protection and switching for the DC branch side.

Key features
  • European AC/DC combination panel range for 230V AC and 12V DC marine electrical systems.
  • Available with either 1 AC source and 6 AC positions or 2 AC sources and 12 AC positions, paired with 15 or 19 DC positions.
  • AC and DC buses are installed and fully pre-wired to simplify panel installation and replacement work.
  • Label backlighting is pre-installed for easier circuit identification in cabins, nav stations, and other low-light locations.
  • ON-indicator LEDs are installed in all circuit positions for quick visual status checks.
  • 100A C-Series toggle circuit breaker provides DC main protection and switching for the DC branch circuits.
  • Traditional metal panel format works well as a replacement for an older distribution panel or as an extension to an existing marine electrical layout.
Variants

This product is offered in two configurations that change the number of AC sources, AC breaker positions, and DC breaker positions.

Both configurations are European 230V AC and 12V DC panels with AC and DC buses installed and fully pre-wired, pre-installed label backlighting, ON-indicator LEDs, and a 100A C-Series DC main breaker.

  • 8184: 1 AC source, 6 AC positions, and 15 DC positions. This configuration fits installations where a single AC source is being distributed alongside a moderate number of DC branch circuits.
  • 8186: 2 AC sources, 12 AC positions, and 19 DC positions. This configuration adds source selection and more circuit capacity for boats with a larger AC and DC load plan.
Installation and setup

Install this panel where it can be reached easily for switching, reset access, and routine checks. The panel depth is 3.00 in, so the mounting area needs enough clearance behind the face for the breakers, wiring, and service loops.

Final circuit labeling, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection, and AC/DC separation should follow the boat electrical plan and applicable marine electrical standards. Because this panel combines AC and DC distribution, installation is normally handled during a planned refit, panel replacement, or main distribution upgrade rather than as a small accessory swap.

Compatibility and fit

The 8184 configuration measures 10.00 in high by 14.75 in wide by 3.00 in deep and weighs 6.50 lb. The 8186 configuration measures 11.50 in high by 19.50 in wide by 3.00 in deep, with listed weights of 12.80 lb and 12.45 lb.

This range is a good match for vessels using European 230V AC service together with a 12V DC house system, especially where the owner wants one organized panel for shore-power circuits, AC branch loads, and DC branch loads.

Use cases on board

On cruising boats, fishing boats, and larger day boats, this type of panel gives the skipper a single place to monitor and switch major AC and DC circuits. It is especially useful near a nav station or main electrical cabinet where shore power, battery-powered DC loads, cabin circuits, pumps, lighting, electronics, and service circuits need clear separation and labeling.

For refit work, the traditional metal format is practical when replacing an aging panel and keeping a conventional breaker layout that crew members can understand quickly.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
