Overview
The Blue Sea Systems Traditional Metal AC Main Breaker Panel is a metered 120V AC distribution panel for boats that need a dedicated AC main with branch circuit protection in a traditional metal layout. It is built around white-toggle A-Series circuit breakers and is offered in 8-position and 11-position configurations, with either a Micro Voltmeter + Micro Ammeter package or a Digital Multi-Function Meter with Alarm.
This panel family is made for AC shore-power and onboard AC distribution work where clear circuit status, reverse-polarity indication, and organized wiring matter. The hot, neutral, and safety ground buses are installed and pre-wired, which helps keep the back of the panel cleaner during a refit or new electrical build.
The range includes compact 5.25 in x 11.25 in panels for tighter vertical spaces and wider 10.50 in x 7.50 in panels for larger AC loads and more branch circuits. Each configuration uses 120V AC labeling and circuit indication, so owners can quickly see which AC circuits are on from the cabin, electrical locker, or nav station.
Key features
- 120V AC main breaker panel range for marine AC distribution, shore-power circuits, and onboard AC loads.
- Available with 8 or 11 branch positions, matching different vessel layouts and available panel space.
- Red reverse-polarity indicating LED helps identify an unsafe AC polarity condition before loads are used.
- Hot, neutral, and safety ground buses are installed and pre-wired for a cleaner panel installation.
- Backlit circuit label positions and ON indicator LEDs make circuit status easier to read in low light.
- White-toggle A-Series circuit breakers provide a familiar switch feel and a consistent panel appearance.
- Metered configurations support AC monitoring through either separate micro voltage and amperage meters or a digital multi-function meter with alarm.
- Traditional metal construction suits refits, panel extensions, and full AC panel replacements on cruising and fishing boats.
Variants
This product is offered in four metered configurations. The main differences are the number of branch positions, the panel size, and the meter package fitted to the panel.
The 8-position versions share the 5.25 in x 11.25 in panel size, while the 11-position versions share the 10.50 in x 7.50 in panel size. Meter packages vary between separate micro voltage and amperage meters and a digital multi-function meter with alarm.
- 8074: 8 positions, 5.25 in x 11.25 in panel, Micro Voltmeter + Micro Ammeter package. This layout suits a narrower panel opening while keeping voltage and amperage visible on separate meters.
- 8406: 8 positions, 5.25 in x 11.25 in panel, Digital Multi-Function Meter with Alarm package. This version keeps the same narrow panel size and uses one digital meter package for consolidated AC monitoring.
- 8076: 11 positions, 10.50 in x 7.50 in panel, Micro Voltmeter + Micro Ammeter package. The wider panel format gives more branch circuit capacity while retaining separate voltage and amperage readings.
- 8407: 11 positions, 10.50 in x 7.50 in panel, Digital Multi-Function Meter with Alarm package. This configuration pairs the larger branch circuit layout with a digital meter package for boats that need more AC circuit positions.
Installation and setup
These panels are intended for 120V AC marine electrical systems. Before installation, confirm the vessel voltage, shore-power inlet arrangement, breaker requirements, panel cutout, and available depth behind the mounting surface.
The pre-wired bus layout helps reduce wiring work inside the electrical locker, but AC systems still require careful installation. A qualified marine electrician should verify the neutral and safety ground arrangement, breaker sizing, reverse-polarity indication, and final circuit labeling before the system is placed in service.
Compatibility and fit
The 5.25 in x 11.25 in versions are a practical fit where vertical space is available but panel width is limited. The 10.50 in x 7.50 in versions work better where the boat needs more branch circuits and has a wider mounting area.
This panel range is a good match for boat owners replacing an older AC panel, expanding an existing AC distribution setup, or cleaning up shore-power and branch circuit control in a cabin, galley, nav station, or protected electrical compartment.
Materials and marine use
The traditional metal panel format is well suited to the vibration, access limitations, and service needs found on boats. The white toggle breakers, backlit labels, and circuit status LEDs make the panel easier to operate during evening dockside use, generator operation, or checks before getting underway.
For saltwater boats, the panel should be mounted in a protected interior location where it is shielded from spray and direct weather exposure. Keep the rear wiring space dry, ventilated, and accessible so future circuit checks and breaker service can be handled without disturbing nearby equipment.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
