Overview
This Attwood Marine fold-down incandescent anchor/masthead light is a 12V all-round white navigation light for boats that need 360° visibility from a raised pole. The range is rated for 3 nautical miles of visibility and is listed for boats up to 65.6 ft (20 m), giving buyers a clear fit reference for common recreational and light-duty marine applications.
The light uses an incandescent lamp setup with festoon-style 8W bulbs, a clear one-piece lens, and a horizontal composite base. The aluminum pole folds down when the light is not in use or when it is bumped, which helps reduce damage around docks, covers, storage racks, and low overhead clearance.
Key features
- 12V DC incandescent anchor/masthead light for vessels using standard 12V navigation light circuits.
- 360° white light output with 3 nautical mile visibility for use as an all-round navigation light.
- Rated for boats up to 65.6 ft (20 m), which helps confirm fit for many powerboats, fishing boats, pontoons, and runabouts.
- Fold-down aluminum pole helps protect the light when trailering, storing, covering, or working around low clearance.
- Horizontal composite base with concealed wiring at the base for a cleaner installation on deck or rail-mounted locations.
- One-piece lens is sealed to help keep water away from the lamp area during washdowns and wet conditions.
- Typical installation uses two #10 stainless steel screws, with screw length matched to the deck or rail material.
- Compatible with freshwater and saltwater boating applications when installed and maintained correctly.
Variants
This product is offered in two pole-length configurations. Both variants share the same fold-down incandescent anchor/masthead light format, 12V operation, horizontal base style, aluminum pole construction, 360° light output, and 3 nautical mile visibility rating.
The main difference is pole length, which affects the installed height of the light above the mounting surface. A taller pole can help raise the light above windshields, canvas, rails, or other deck hardware, while a shorter pole keeps the installation lower where clearance is limited.
- 7201-P-7, Pole length 12" aluminum. This version keeps the light lower above the mounting point, which suits layouts where storage height, covers, or overhead clearance matter.
- 7202-P-7, Pole length 20" aluminum. This version raises the light higher from the base, which helps when the mounting area sits near rails, windshields, or other equipment that could block visibility.
Installation and fit
Install the light where the 360° white output will stay visible around the boat without being blocked by canvas, arches, rod holders, radar domes, or passengers. The horizontal base format is useful on flat mounting areas and rail-adapter installations where a vertical socket is not the right fit.
Because this is a 12V incandescent light, it should be wired into a properly protected 12V navigation light circuit. Confirm the vessel wiring, switch function, fuse protection, and ground connection before replacing an existing anchor or masthead light.
Use on board
This light is a practical match for boaters replacing an older incandescent anchor or masthead pole light and wanting the same simple service style rather than converting to LED. It fits common use on small cruisers, fishing boats, pontoons, and utility boats that need a fold-down all-round white light for night operation or anchoring.
The fold-down pole is especially useful on boats that are trailered, stored under covers, kept in lifts, or used around docks where fixed lights can be knocked out of alignment.
Maintenance and care
Check the lens, pole, base, and wiring connection as part of regular navigation light maintenance, especially after saltwater use or long storage. Keep the lens clean so the white light remains visible, and inspect the incandescent bulb before night runs or overnight anchoring.
