Overview
The Raymarine Alpha is a sailing performance display range for boats that need clear instrument data at the helm, on deck, or at the mast. It is offered in 7 inch and 9 inch display sizes, with high brightness IPS touchscreen displays rated at 1500 nits for strong daylight visibility.
Alpha is not a standalone instrument. It requires a Raymarine Axiom-Series or Axiom 2-Series MFD or chartplotter running LightHouse 4 v4.7.172 or later, and it uses the Axiom network to show sailing, navigation, engine, autopilot, and boat systems data. The display supports 12 V and 24 V DC systems, with an operating voltage range of 10.8 V to 32 V DC.
For exposed sailing installations, the Alpha display is rated IPx6 and IPx7 and uses HydroTough nano-coated glass to help shed water, oil, and smudges. It can be mounted in portrait or landscape orientation, and up to 4 Alpha displays can be linked in a daisy chain to reduce cabling through the deck or mast.
Key features
- Available as a 7 inch Alpha 7 display or 9 inch Alpha 9 display for different helm, deck, and mast viewing needs.
- 1500 nit IPS touchscreen with wide viewing angles and visibility through polarized sunglasses.
- Requires a compatible Raymarine Axiom or Axiom 2 chartplotter, giving the display access to connected transducers, NMEA 2000, and SeaTalk NG devices through the Axiom system.
- IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof rating for above deck and below deck installation areas.
- HydroTough nano-coated, impact-resistant glass helps repel water, oil, and fingerprints during wet operation.
- Supports 12 V and 24 V DC electrical systems with a 10.8 V to 32 V DC operating range.
- Single Power and RayNet Ethernet connection plus a daisy-chain connector for cleaner multi-display installations.
- Configurable data pages and widgets cover wind, speed, depth, navigation, pilot, engine, battery, fuel, GPS, heading, tanks, and other vessel data categories.
- Lockable touchscreen with remote brightness and page control from the connected Axiom chartplotter.
- Power and networking cables are sold separately, so the cable length can be matched to the actual route through the boat.
Variants
The Alpha range is offered in two display sizes. Both are part of the same sailing performance display family and share the same core Axiom-based system approach, waterproof rating, power range, display brightness, and mounting flexibility.
The main differences are screen size, resolution, current draw, maximum power consumption, physical size, and weight. The 7 inch version suits tighter panels or smaller mast layouts, while the 9 inch version gives more screen area for larger data pages and easier reading from farther away.
- E70649, Display Size 7". This Alpha 7 version has a 7 inch IPS TFT LCD screen with 1024 x 600 resolution, weighs 0.72 kg, and uses up to 10 W maximum power.
- E70650, Display Size 9". This Alpha 9 version has a 9 inch IPS TFT LCD screen with 1280 x 720 resolution, weighs 1.18 kg, and uses up to 12 W maximum power.
Installation and system integration
Alpha is made for connected Raymarine sailing systems rather than simple standalone instrument replacement. A compatible Axiom chartplotter acts as the hub for calculations, sensor data, and remote control, while the Alpha display presents the selected information in a focused instrument layout.
Each display has a Power and RayNet Ethernet connector and a daisy-chain connector. A single Power and RayNet cable, sold separately, carries both power and data to help keep cable runs neater through a mast, deck gland, cockpit console, or instrument pod.
Mounting and onboard use
The display can be installed flush, surface mounted, or mast mounted with the appropriate accessories, and it can be used in portrait or landscape orientation. It also supports retrofit mounting where an older Raymarine ST60, ST60+, i50, i60, i70, or i70s instrument was previously installed.
This display range is a strong match for sailors who rely on repeatable wind, speed, navigation, and pilot data during coastal cruising, club racing, offshore passages, or performance-focused day sailing. It is especially useful where the crew needs the same data visible from more than one position on board.
Electrical details
The Alpha range supports 12 V and 24 V DC systems, with an operating voltage range of 10.8 V to 32 V DC. The Alpha 7 draws 0.84 A nominal at 12 V DC or 0.43 A nominal at 24 V DC, while the Alpha 9 draws 1.02 A nominal at 12 V DC or 0.52 A nominal at 24 V DC.
An 8 A inline fuse rating and 8 A thermal breaker rating are specified for a single display installation. For multiple Alpha displays connected in series, fuse and breaker sizing should account for the total power consumption of the daisy-chained displays.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
