Overview
The Victron Energy Lynx Smart BMS NG is a dedicated battery management system for Victron Lithium NG battery banks on 12, 24, or 48 V DC installations. It works across a 9-60 VDC battery voltage range and is offered in 500 A and 1000 A versions, so the current rating can be matched to the size of the vessel’s DC system.
For a boat, this unit sits at the center of the lithium house bank and high-current DC distribution. It combines battery protection, a main safety contactor, pre-charge for inverter loads, battery monitoring, and communication for Victron system control. It is part of the Lynx M10 distribution platform, which makes it a practical fit for clean battery compartments and electrical lockers using Lynx Distributor modules.
The Lynx Smart BMS NG is for Victron Lithium NG batteries. It should not be confused with the non-NG Lynx Smart BMS used with Victron Lithium Battery Smart batteries.
Key features
- Dedicated BMS for Victron Lithium NG batteries, with support for 12, 24, and 48 V systems.
- Available with a 500 A or 1000 A continuous main safety contactor, depending on the selected variant.
- Built-in pre-charge circuit helps manage capacitive loads such as inverters and inverter/chargers before the contactor closes.
- Integrated battery monitor reports state of charge, voltage, current, historical data, status information, and alarms.
- Bluetooth connection allows setup, monitoring, and diagnostics through VictronConnect.
- VE.Can RJ45 connection supports GX device integration, remote monitoring through VRM, and NMEA 2000 connection through a VE.Can to NMEA 2000 micro-C cable.
- ATC and ATD contacts can control chargers and loads with remote on/off inputs, while DVCC can control compatible Victron chargers through a GX device.
- AUX output supplies up to 1.1 A at system voltage and is protected by a resettable fuse.
- M10 busbar connection with 33 Nm torque fits the Lynx M10 distribution system.
- Can monitor fuse status for up to four connected Lynx Distributor modules through RJ10 communication.
Variants
The Lynx Smart BMS NG is available in two current ratings for different DC system sizes.
The current rating, peak contactor rating, enclosure size, unit weight, and ON-mode power consumption vary by model. Both variants share the 9-60 VDC battery voltage range, support 12, 24, and 48 V systems, use M10 busbar connections, use tinned copper busbars, and carry an IP22 protection class.
- LYN034160310: 500 A current rating. This version uses a 500 A continuous main contactor with a 600 A peak rating for 5 minutes, a 190 x 180 x 80 mm enclosure, and a 1.9 kg unit weight.
- LYN034170310: 1000 A current rating. This version uses a 1000 A continuous main contactor with a 1200 A peak rating for 5 minutes, a 230 x 180 x 100 mm enclosure, and a 2.7 kg unit weight.
Compatibility and fit
This BMS is intended for Victron Lithium NG battery systems where the bank may be configured for 12, 24, or 48 V operation. Up to 50 batteries can be connected to the BMS by daisy-chaining the BMS cables, which is useful on larger house banks where battery status, contactor control, and system monitoring need to stay centralized.
It fits installations built around Victron’s Lynx M10 layout. The busbar connection is M10, the VE.Can connection uses RJ45, the I/O is handled through a removable 13-pin multi-connector with screw terminals, and battery BMS cables connect through circular 3-pole connectors with M8 screw rings.
Electrical and network integration
The Lynx Smart BMS NG can work with VictronConnect over Bluetooth for setup and local checks, or with a GX device for system-wide monitoring and control. A Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX, or similar GX device can show BMS data, battery state of charge, cell voltage and temperature data, operational state, and alarms, with remote access available through VRM when the system is configured for it.
For charging and load control, the unit includes ATC and ATD contacts, DVCC closed-loop control through a connected GX device, a programmable relay, and a protected AUX output. That combination is useful on marine lithium systems with inverter/chargers, MPPT solar chargers, DC-DC chargers, alternator regulation, and critical electronics that need controlled shutdown behavior rather than a sudden battery disconnect.
Installation notes for boats
The IP22 protection class means the unit should be mounted in a dry, protected electrical space rather than in a wet locker or anywhere exposed to washdown, spray, or bilge water. It is a good match for a battery compartment, electrical locker, or technical space where high-current DC cabling can be kept short, supported, and serviceable.
The unit does not include reverse polarity protection, so polarity checks before energizing are important. Cable sizing, fuse selection, torque, and ventilation should be planned around the selected 500 A or 1000 A variant and the vessel’s actual charge and load currents.
Use on board
This product is a good match for cruising sailboats, powerboats, expedition vessels, and fishing boats moving to a Victron Lithium NG house bank with inverter power, solar charging, alternator charging, and remote monitoring. It gives the installer one central point for lithium battery protection and system communication while keeping the DC distribution layout consistent with the Lynx platform.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
