Overview

The Garmin 010-12834-00 is a wireless foot pedal that controls a Garmin Force trolling motor when you want steering and speed underfoot instead of reaching for a handheld remote. It links to the motor over 2.4 GHz and carries an IPX7 water rating for spray, washdowns, and the occasional accidental dunk.

You can run it fully wireless on two AA batteries (alkaline, NiMH, or lithium), or hardwire it to the boat using the included 2 m (6.6 ft) power cable with an in-line 2 A mini-blade fuse. The pedal accepts 10 to 45 Vdc and is rated for 12/24/36 V systems, so it fits cleanly into most bow electronics layouts.

Physically, it measures 303 x 221 x 110 mm (11 15/16 x 8 11/16 x 4 5/16 in) and weighs 1.8 kg (4 lb). That size works well on the front deck of a bass boat, or dropped into a foot pedal tray when you want a cleaner cockpit.

Key features
  • Wireless communication to the trolling motor, so there is no control cable to the motor
  • Power options: two AA batteries (not included) or hardwired power using the included cable
  • Wide input range (10 to 45 Vdc) with rated 12/24/36 V system support
  • Included 2 m (6.6 ft) power cable with an in-line 2 A mini-blade fuse
  • IPX7 water rating (IEC 60529)
  • Adjustable tension screw to tune how the pedal feels underfoot
  • Compass-safe distance: 60 cm (2 ft)
Compatibility and fit

This pedal is used as a foot control for Garmin Force trolling motors. Because it communicates wirelessly, placement is mostly about comfort and deck layout rather than cable routing between the pedal and the motor.

If you are using a recessed foot pedal well or an aftermarket tray, you can mount the pedal in the tray and shim it to the height you want. The deck footprint is substantial, so it is worth confirming you have clear space for the full pedal travel before drilling.

Installation and setup

You can use the pedal loose on deck, but securing it is strongly recommended, especially when you plan to run on batteries. Mounting hardware is not included; a common approach is four 5 mm (#10) stainless self-tapping screws sized for your deck material, with 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot holes and a dab of marine sealant in each hole to keep water out of the core.

For hardwired power, route the included cable to a battery or breaker, connect red to positive and black to negative, and lock the connector into the port on the bottom of the pedal. If you need more length, extend with 18 AWG (0.82 mm2) wire and keep the fuse between the power source and the extension.

Electrical and power notes

Battery power uses two AA cells and is rated for at least 1 year of battery life under normal use. If you wire the pedal to boat power, do not leave AA batteries installed, since long-term storage can lead to corrosion in the battery compartment.

For boats with magnetic compasses or compass sensors near the bow, keep the pedal at least 60 cm (2 ft) away to avoid interference.

Use on board

This setup makes sense for anglers who want hands on the rod while making small steering and speed changes from the bow. It is also a good match when you are working around the front deck and want motor control without carrying a remote from spot to spot.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
