Overview

The Simrad 000-15950-001 is a pre-made hydraulic hose and fitting kit that adds the SteadySteer flow switch to a Verado steering system when you are installing a Simrad MKII autopilot pump. It is listed for MKII Pumps 1 through 5 and ORB steering layouts, including SeaStar-style systems. The hose set uses 1/4 in. lines with up to 2800 PSI rating (2250 PSI on the return hose) and includes multiple pre-cut lengths so the flow switch can be plumbed in without field-terminated hoses.

On the water, SteadySteer lets you turn the helm for a manual course change without digging through menus. Once a new heading is established, the autopilot can resume on the straight leg without key-presses or alarms, which is useful in tight channels, while trolling, or any time you want quick helm control.

Key features
  • Hydraulic fitting and hose kit for Verado steering systems using Simrad MKII Pumps 1 to 5
  • Includes the SteadySteer flow switch plus the hoses and tees needed to plumb it into the steering circuit
  • Compatible with O-Ring Boss (ORB) steering systems, including SeaStar-style installations
  • Pre-cut hose lengths and pre-selected fittings help avoid routing mistakes and mismatched hydraulic ends
  • O-ring sealed connections using the listed ORFS fittings, with straight adapters for 1/4 NPT to 9/16-24 UNF
Compatibility and fit

This kit is meant for boats with a Verado steering system where the autopilot pump is a Simrad MKII model. Before ordering, confirm your steering layout uses ORB-style components and that the fitting types and sizes match your existing plumbing, since the supplied hoses and tees use specific 9/16 and 11/16 ORFS sizes alongside UNF and NPT adaptors.

Because the hoses are fixed-length, it also helps to check the intended mounting location for the pump and where the flow switch will sit so you are not forced into tight bends or chafe points in the rigging tube.

Installation and setup

Hydraulic connections are sensitive to dirt and nicks, especially with O-ring face seal fittings. Keep the sealing faces clean, inspect O-rings before assembly, and route hoses so they are supported and protected from vibration and abrasion. After plumbing is complete, bleed the steering system thoroughly and re-check for seepage once the boat has been run and the system has seen pressure.

Use cases on board

This is a good fit for Verado-powered fishing boats and fast center consoles that spend time running inlets, following contour lines, or working trolling patterns, where the helm gets used often even while the autopilot is engaged.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
