Overview

The Raymarine A80544 is a RayMic wireless handset with an inductive charging holster for adding a remote VHF station to compatible Raymarine Ray63, Ray73, Ray90, and Ray91 systems. It gives the helm, cockpit, flybridge, or another working area on board access to VHF radio control without running a handset cable back to the main radio location.

The handset communicates over a 2.4 GHz wireless link through the Raymarine wireless hub and can also connect to a Raymarine wireless active speaker. It is rated IPx6 and IPx7 for water protection, has a rechargeable 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery, and supports up to 8 hours of talk time or 100 hours on standby from a full charge.

The charging holster uses wireless inductive charging, so there is no charging port to plug in on the handset. The holster runs from a 12 V DC supply with a 10.2 V to 16 V operating range and should be protected with a 2 A inline fuse or thermal breaker.

Key features
  • Wireless RayMic handset for Raymarine Ray63, Ray73, Ray90, and Ray91 VHF DSC radio systems.
  • Creates an additional VHF control station without a long wired handset run through the vessel.
  • 2.4 GHz wireless connection carries handset communication through the compatible Raymarine wireless hub.
  • IPx6 and IPx7 water protection suits exposed helm, cockpit, and flybridge installations.
  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to 8 hours of talk time and up to 100 hours of standby time.
  • Inductive charging holster removes the need for a handset charging port or plug-in cable.
  • Oversized LCD and rubberized keypad help with visibility and grip when the boat is moving or wet.
  • Supports connection to a Raymarine wireless active speaker for a separate audio point at the handset station.
  • Smart locator alarm can help find the handset when it has been moved around the boat.
Compatibility and system integration

This handset is for use with Raymarine Ray63, Ray73, Ray90, and Ray91 VHF systems. A Raymarine wireless hub is required to create the wireless handset station, and Ray63 or Ray73 installations also require the wireless hub adaptor cable. A wireless active speaker can be paired with each handset where a separate audio point is needed.

For a clean installation, the charging holster should be mounted where the handset can be reached quickly and returned to charge after use. Common positions include the main helm, a second helm station, a cockpit communication point, or a protected area near the companionway on a sailboat.

Installation and power

The charging holster mounts with the supplied screws and connects to the vessel 12 V DC supply. For Ray63 and Ray73 installations, the holster power cable can be routed through a 6.5 mm cable hole when a concealed feed is preferred. The selected location should be tested before final mounting so the wireless link, handset access, and charging position all work properly.

Because the holster is the charging point, it should be positioned where the handset can stay seated securely between uses but still be grabbed quickly during docking, deck work, fishing, or watch changes. The 10.2 V to 16 V operating range makes it suitable for standard 12 V marine electrical systems when protected by the required 2 A fuse or breaker.

Use cases on board

This wireless handset is a strong fit for boats where the fixed VHF radio is mounted away from the place people actually communicate from. It is useful on flybridge cruisers, center consoles, pilothouse boats, sailboats with cockpit watch positions, and vessels where crew need VHF access without leaving the helm or deck.

It is also helpful for refits where pulling a new wired handset cable would mean opening panels, routing through tight chases, or working around finished joinery. The wireless setup keeps the installation cleaner while still giving the user a practical VHF control point at the station that matters.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
