Overview
The Garmin GHP 10 extension cable is an autopilot interconnect lead that adds extra distance between the CCU and the ECU when the standard cable run is not long enough. It is used when the CCU needs to be mounted farther from the ECU to suit your boat’s layout, cable routing, or preferred sensor location.
This cable is offered in 5 m and 15 m lengths. The 5 m option measures 16.4 ft, giving practical reach for many console, pilothouse, and compact cruiser installations where the ECU and CCU cannot be kept within the typical 3 m separation.
Key features
- Extends the CCU-to-ECU connection on Garmin GHP 10 Marine Autopilot System installations
- Length options to match common cable routes through rigging tubes, conduits, and under-deck runs
- Supports moving the CCU farther from the ECU when equipment placement is limited by access, wiring paths, or mounting constraints
- Helps keep the CCU placement practical without relocating the ECU from a protected mounting area
Variants
This product is offered in multiple length configurations to match different vessel sizes and equipment layouts.
The cable length varies by option. Other details should be matched to your existing GHP 10 CCU and ECU connection before ordering.
- 010-11156-00: Length 5 m (16.4 ft). Suitable for installations that need extra reach beyond the standard run while keeping the CCU and ECU within the same general area of the boat.
- 010-11156-01: Length 15 m. Useful when the ECU is mounted aft or in an equipment space and the CCU needs to be positioned farther forward for cleaner routing or preferred sensor placement.
Compatibility and fit
Compatibility is focused on the Garmin GHP 10 Marine Autopilot System. Use this cable when you are extending the CCU-to-ECU connection and the existing lead does not reach your planned mounting locations.
Before installation, confirm you are extending the correct CCU-to-ECU run and that the connectors match your existing harness ends. If your autopilot components or harnessing differ from a GHP 10 setup, the connection style may not be the same.
Installation and routing
Plan the route first and measure the real path the cable will follow, including service loops at each end for future access. Keep the run supported with clamps or ties so it cannot move in vibration, and avoid tight bends where the cable enters a bulkhead or conduit.
Route the cable away from high-current wiring and ignition noise sources when possible. If it must cross power cables, crossing at a right angle and keeping separation along the run helps reduce interference risk in crowded helm and machinery spaces.
Use on board
This extension cable is a practical fit for refits where equipment is being moved, for boats with longer helm-to-machinery runs, and for multi-station layouts where the ECU location is fixed but the CCU placement needs more flexibility. It also helps when you want the CCU mounted where it is easier to service without compromising cable reach.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
