Overview

The Garmin 010-01719-00 is an 18-inch dome radar for boats that need radar coverage without a large open-array scanner. It transmits at 4 kW peak, rotates at up to 24 RPM, and supports target viewing from 20 m out to 36 nm when paired with a radar-compatible Garmin chartplotter.

Power is 11 to 35 Vdc, which fits typical 12 V and 24 V systems, and the power lead uses an in-line 7.5 A fuse. Radar control happens from the chartplotter, and radar overlay can be shown on the map page; a heading sensor or autopilot improves overlay alignment and is part of a MARPA setup on compatible systems.

For planning the mount, the radome footprint is about 20 in in diameter and roughly 9.8 in high, with a listed weight around 7.7 kg (17 lb). Keep at least 1 m (3.28 ft.) from a magnetic compass when choosing the mounting location.

Key features
  • 4 kW peak output with up to 24 RPM rotation and a 5.2° horizontal beam width
  • Maximum range up to 36 nm, with a 20 m minimum range for close-in target work
  • Power input 11 to 35 Vdc, rated up to 3.5 A with an in-line 7.5 A fuse
  • Connects by Garmin Marine Network to a radar-compatible Garmin chartplotter or into a Garmin Marine Network for shared radar
  • Radar overlay on the chartplotter map page; MARPA tracking is available when paired with a compatible display and heading sensor
  • Dynamic Auto Gain and Dynamic Sea Filter adjust gain and sea clutter as conditions change
  • 8-bit true color radar presentation on compatible chartplotter displays
  • Supplied 15 m (49 ft) power cable and 15 m (49 ft) network cable for helm-to-radome routing
  • Compass-safe distance: 1 m (3.28 ft.)

Compatibility and system integration

This radome is operated from a radar-capable Garmin chartplotter and can be connected either directly to a compatible display or through a Garmin Marine Network to share radar with other connected Garmin devices. Depending on the display and network setup, the radar cable connects to a port labeled NETWORK or RADAR on the receiving device.

If you plan to use radar overlay on the chart page or MARPA target tracking, plan the system around a heading source. A heading sensor or an autopilot heading output is commonly used so the overlay stays lined up when the boat yaws or turns.

Installation and setup

Mount the radome on a flat, rigid surface that sits parallel to the vessel waterline, with as little blockage as possible between the radome and the horizon. On boats with a higher bow angle at cruise speed, installers sometimes shim the mount so the beam points slightly down toward the waterline.

The supplied M8 x 1.25 x 60 threaded rods cover mounting surfaces roughly 5 to 30 mm thick; thicker mounting surfaces require longer rods. Cable routing often calls for a 32 mm (1 1/4 in.) pass-through hole; if both power and network cables go through the same hole, route the network cable first, then seal the penetration after the cables are in place.

Connect red to battery positive and black to battery negative, and keep the in-line fuse holder in the circuit. If the power lead must be extended, match wire gauge to the added length: 16 AWG for about 2 m (6.5 ft), 14 AWG for about 4 m (13 ft), and 12 AWG for about 6 m (19 ft).

Materials and corrosion resistance

The radome housing is thermoplastic resin, which keeps the exterior resistant to typical marine exposure. Standard mounting practices still matter on a boat: bed fasteners properly, seal cable penetrations, and keep cable runs supported so vibration does not work connections loose over time.

Use cases on board

This radar is commonly installed on hardtops, arches, cabin tops, and sailboat mounts where a low-profile dome fits the available space. It is a practical choice for coastal cruising, early-morning departures, and running in reduced visibility, especially when you want radar overlay on the chartplotter to confirm contacts around channels, headlands, and traffic lanes.

Maintenance and care

Rinse the radome after saltwater use and keep the dome surface free of heavy grime that can build up from spray and exhaust. Periodically check that mounting hardware stays tight and that any deck penetrations remain sealed.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
