Overview

The Garmin 010-01511-00 is a GPSMAP 8422 multifunction display chartplotter with a 22-inch class full HD touchscreen for a primary helm station. The IPS screen runs 1920 x 1080 resolution with an anti-glare finish, and the viewable area measures 21.5 inches diagonal (18.8 x 10.6 in). It carries an IPX7 water rating for typical helm splash and washdown conditions.

This unit is built for networked systems where the display becomes the hub for charting, radar, sonar, audio, and vessel data. It has four Garmin Marine Network ports plus NMEA 2000 and multiple NMEA 0183 ports, so it can sit in the middle of a mixed electronics stack that includes newer backbone gear and legacy instruments.

For video and helm layouts, it supports HDMI and composite video input, and an HDMI output for mirroring to an external monitor. SmartMode one touch presets help switch the screen layout between common activities without digging through menus every time the conditions change.

Key features
  • 22-inch class full HD touchscreen with 1920 x 1080 resolution and IPS anti-glare display technology
  • IPX7 water rating for helm environments exposed to spray and routine washdowns
  • Four Garmin Marine Network ports for multi display systems and high bandwidth accessories
  • NMEA 2000 support plus NMEA 0183 I/O (4 inputs, 2 outputs) for integrating sensors, VHF, AIS, and legacy devices
  • Video connectivity with HDMI input, HDMI output, and composite video input on BNC
  • Compatible with Garmin radar and Garmin sonar when used with supported external sonar modules
  • Supports AIS target tracking and DSC position display when connected to compatible VHF equipment
  • SmartMode customizable monitor presets for quick switching between helm activities
  • Works with ActiveCaptain and Garmin GRID remote input devices for app features and helm control options
Installation and helm fit

The housing measures 20.8 x 13.8 x 2.8 in (52.8 x 35.1 x 7.1 cm) and weighs 15.63 lb (7.09 kg), so plan for a mounting surface that can support the weight and limit vibration. Flush mounting is common on pilothouse and glass bridge style dashboards, and a flat mount arrangement also works when you want the display proud of the panel for service access.

Leave room behind the unit for cable bend radius and for airflow. On wide helms that see direct sun through the windshield, it helps to avoid boxing the unit into a tight pocket so heat can move away from the back of the display.

Power and wiring notes

Power is run directly to the vessel supply rather than through the NMEA 2000 backbone. Typical current draw is 3.9 A at 12 Vdc, with a maximum of 4.9 A at 12 Vdc and up to 59 W at 10 Vdc, and the power lead uses a 15 A fuse. In practice this fits cleanly into a switched electronics buss so you can bring the display up and down with the rest of the helm package.

Charts, data, and navigation storage

Waypoint capacity is 5,000, with a 50,000 point track log and support for 100 routes (up to 250 waypoints each). Chart and data card support is handled via an optional Garmin SD card reader, allowing use of two SD cards. GPS is handled through an external antenna connection, which is helpful when the helm is under heavy tint, hardtops, or enclosed pilothouse structures.

Who it suits on board

This display makes sense for boats with a wide helm panel where you want charting, radar, sonar, and vessel data on one screen, especially on pilothouse, express, and sportfishing layouts that run multiple networked Garmin stations. It is also a solid fit when you need video inputs at the helm, such as cameras or HDMI sources, with the option to mirror the display to a secondary monitor.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
